Thanks AP- very useful info in this video. I've not been the best at having relationship with local farmers and even some family- family doesn't seem concerned enough to prepare really ( except mom and dad did finally get a generator a week before the winter storm knocked power out in Houston- they used it over a week!) I sort of stuck my big toe in to test the waters, that's it. They'd think I went to crazy town if I said much more than I did. They're sort of aware, but they surprise me too when they put the blinders back on. They're optimists generally so think things may get rough for a period of time but not really bad. Key is to not refer to this as prepping or that anyone is a "prepper" - it has negative connotations. Even though my mom grew up poor on a farm, she said " what's prepping?" even though she told me stories how she grew up. She has zero interest in doing anything the old fashioned hard knuckled way ever again. Can't say I blame her since she experienced hardship before. Money in the bank and saving/spending responsibly is their prepping- it counts for something I guess.
