That's not the case for me, at least on my FireTV Cube. I can load the normal youtube app up fine.

Strangely enough clicking on the "real" YouTube app now brings up the broken SmartTube app :O - so no way to run YouTube at all :'(

Unfortunately, that's not so simple. You need to install the beta manually. Downloader code 79015. After that, restore your settings through the previously created backup. Settings/Backup/Restore

I have a dumb Q... how do I switch between beta and stable? I've been wandering through the settings, but I don't see the option in the app. Is it something I have to do by loading a different apk?

It’s broken again. So lost with this app. Use it night before. Goto work turn it on and all I get is spinning thing. Or it takes a minute or 2 to load. Video.

Hi. I think pinning Watch later to the sidebar is what you want. This option should be in the context menu.

Hi. I use SmartTube on my nVidia Shield and love it. I actually pay for YouTube premium, but still use smarttube because the interface is just so much better. One issue I have is I save videos to watch later, but rarely go in to find videos that I've marked. Is there a way to expose the watch later list as a channel on the home screen like Recommendations and History?

Interesting: My "Notifications" section just got populated. After being "empty" for a very long time. Still, it's not quite "correct" -- and I think I know what happened. I spent a couple of hours today, right before seeing this population -- going through my folders, trying to cut down the number of channels I had subscribed to and had added to those folders. And I found a few channels that I wanted to add to my YouTube notifications -- perhaps half a dozen channels. Which I did by playing a video, and updating the notifications within the video. And THOSE are the channels now showing in the notification section. So, perhaps this has been mentioned before somewhere, but this looks like "Notifications are stored locally." That said, it does appear that the notifications I updated -- marking them as "All" -- did indeed get through to my YouTube account. I'll have to see how this goes over a bit of time. For what it's worth, I hope this helps.

I don't get any error message. I click on a video to play it, and it shows the normal video info and playback controls, but refuses to play.

It worked for me for about 12 hours, then the error where it opens a video but never plays returned, unfortunately.

Recently, Google disabled recommendations for anonymous accounts. You can check themselves by opening yt site in incognito mode.

Thanks again for the quickfix a few weeks ago.. I have thought of you and thanked you internally every time I opened the app – I've been using it non-stop to keep updated on the movements, have a bit of a laugh with the others and forget the reason why we're here.. I pray to thank whomever watches over us all for your existance. Well, that and for the fact that I'm a silly bugger and decided to always carry my Nvidia Shield, a kind of mix between an Android TV and a gaming console, around with me. Just for the one in a million case that we would find an empty building with power and a TV in order to get more information and maybe even have a nice, peaceful film evening with no report-worthy incidents, a bit of normality amidst the sea of despair, dead bodies and other things my brain regularly refuses to accept as reality. Thank you so, so much for not abandoning the project, unlike all of the other guys who "grew out of the modding hobby" and suddenly left us stranded with an outdated app the gets slowly devoured by Youtube's or, in the cases I'm talking about, Instagram's war against modded versions of their own app and 3rd party apps, even if they had been built from the ground up. Sorry for yapping on and on like that. Again. 😅
