this + 2024.... I'd like to know
Jo Nathan
Is it working with 1.2.B219 ? thx
Mark Crabtree
Why? That is part of flying the Maddog.
Mark Crabtree
Did you copy all the sound.xml sections from the 2020 version. My layout shows one each for the 82, 83 and 88.
K AKAIO
Those Configurations are still the same , maybe the "LSH" Cockpit Volume is low ?
Esa Ahonen
Installed 1.18 over 1.17 and now the crew sounds (like V-speeds) are very quiet. Any way to fix this? Sounds good otherwise.
Mike Bergman
Got the 1.16 version to work in 2024, copy over everything, just like you would to install in 2020, but when updating the layout.json, also copy the entry for the sound.xml file from the 2020 version, the size and date numbers apparently have an effect, only thing I did different and went from muted sounds to full working sounds with the mod
Derek Lane
2024 Compatibility?
Lars K. RΓΈnes
It has been updated for MSFS2024, installer: "MSFS2024 OPEN BETA Fly the Maddog X: 1.2b212". Will you be able to update the soundpack to work with this and future 2024 versions? The soundpack currently does not work, I tried tinkering around in the sound.xml but I am not able to see what is preventing it from working. Whenever it is installed, there are no sounds at all, complete silence.
FlyWay Air
will you update the sound pack for the latest version of the md-80, the instrustion dont work now
Jonah Slater
v1.17 doesnt work for me, aircraft doesnt show up
Leonel Muniz
Is there anyway of getting rid of ticking sound in cabin
Dustin Scott
Latest update breaks the plane, doesn't show up in the sim.
Jimmy Dondin
hello i after installing the pack i get the master warning and other light as the cockpit door annunciator and radio also on the maddog not lighting correctly sound is working but i get this probleme after updating all in layout json any recommandation ?
PS
Any way to get the internal engine sounds lower? You can't hear the engines in the flight deck on this aircraft due to the length of the plane and distance from the engines.
Felix Marjan
fix please, not working on latest version
AR
There are weird sound issues with 1.16a, sounds in cockpit dissappear every 15-20 minutes. Tried multiple solutions but still don't fix the issues.
felipe turbay
hello everybody, Leonardo just released an update for the MSFS MD80, does the sound package needs to be installed again? Thanks!
theegg52
just installed version 1.16a on the latest maddog update 1.2b183. Works great.

SAME HERE
Kyle Gavin
Hi, has anyone had issues with the soundpack after the christmas update? the aircraft doesn't load into the sim anymore when you install v1.16 with the latest maddog 1.2b179
Christian Hegewald
Could we also get a (L) version of 1.16a? Thanks a lot! :)
Dana Schneider
This sound pack doesn't work.
Dana Schneider
Hi, I have done all of this as I said, and there are still no sounds. I sent you an email with screen shots showing exactly what I have done, and I am not versed enough to further diagnose the issue. I have no clue why this isn't working. What makes no sense is that this has worked for months until this last update. So something has changed and I don't know enough to figure it out.
K AKAIO
update the "layout.json" before launching MSFS
Dana Schneider
Hi I did update per your video and I updated the layout.json and I have no sounds. Are you saying after I launch the sim to exit the sim and go back and re update the layout.json? I did what the comments said above including entering all of those lines of text as instructed, but still no sounds. Also do I use 1.16a or 1.16 I don't really understand what the difference is or does it not really matter?
K AKAIO
sorry "Dana" , too much work in progress and i did not check the comment for a while . πafter updating the aircraft you need also to re-update the "layout.json" because it will return to it's default state . - Did you check the previous comments ? you will get a idea about the problem you have
Dana Schneider
I don't think anyone responds in here anymore.
Andy Quinn
Installed 1.16a, dropped it into the aircraft folder and updated the layout.json. The engine sounds are good, but the problem is I can't hear the cockpit avionics anymore (AP disconnect chime, trim buzzer, autothrottle servo) are all either completely silent or very quiet. Any easy way to fix this?
Dana Schneider
I have tried to install the latest update following the video and all I get are no sounds at all. Before this update the sounds worked fine with version 1.15. Now it is all messed up. I have even uninstalled and then reinstalled the airplane. That didn't solve the issue either. Not sure what's going on. Looks like this airplane is going to stay parked in the hangar because the default sounds are terrible.

i figured it out, the build py thing doesnt work, you have to manully do the layout json thing
cwa alt
it doesnt work
Mason Ireland
Also tried installing this sound pack for the latest version of the MD82 following your steps and it's not working.
John Martin
where does this file above....."MD82_Cfg Update(v1.14).zip"....come into play?
John Martin
downloaded the v1.16L soundpack AFTER updating the Maddogx to it's newest version. Copied the "SimObjects" folder and the build.py file and pasted them both inside my "community>lsh-maddogx-aircraft" folder...I replaced a few files when asked to due so and then ran the .py file while it was inside the lsh-maddogx-aircraft folder.....results> still no sound change....where did I go wrong?

This has worked just fine with the MD 83/88.
David T Gray
any chance of getting the MD88/83 addon also? thanks
John Martin
Can you just make a folder to drop in the community folder to change the engine sounds like some other developers? Don't know if that is possible or not......
John Martin
tried the manual and python install of 1.16L into MSFS and I just can't get the new sounds to work. Spent 2 hours on discord with help and no one could understand why the sounds aren't working....
Parker Robinson
I have the base and expansion but if I follow the instructions, I lose my engine sounds. Edit * Turns out if you dont run .py files by default in python, I had it set to Notepad++, it doesnt actually do anything. It would didnt update my layout.json file.
William Roark
that worked berzeker. idk how i didnt see that. thank you!
Berzerker
See the earlier comments in this thread about adding more blocks to the layout.json file
William Roark
How do I get this to work with the new MD-83/88 expansion for LS MD82? it still works for the 82, but I can't get it to work for the 83/88. Those just have the default sounds.
Daniel Reynard
Is only the loud engine version foreseen for v 1.16?
Berzerker
Any updates on the normal-levels link for 1.16?
Bill Alicea
please add a link to the normal non loud engine version for v1.16
David Norfolk
No link for the normal version?
Wolfgang Kronfuss
There's only a link to the loud engine sound version..
Sahab B
Can you please update this for the new 83 and 88 expansion too?
Dana Schneider
That fix didn't work for me..still same generic sounds.
Horace Plummer
thank you
Wally Pee
thanks!
Mike Bergman
Be sure to backup the existing sound.xml files just in case, but this worked for me
Mike Bergman
To get sounds to work... do the following: Copy the sound.xml and MD80_sp.PC.pck files into SimObjects/Airplanes/MaddogX83/Sound and SimObjects/Airplanes/MaddogX88/Sound and then paste these two entries into the layout.json file in lsh-maddogx-aircraft folder { "path": "SimObjects/Airplanes/MaddogX83/sound/MD80_Sp.PC.pck", "size": 140886287, "date": 133027422380000000 }, { "path": "SimObjects/Airplanes/MaddogX88/sound/MD80_Sp.PC.pck", "size": 140886287, "date": 133027422380000000 },
Wally Pee
yes anything special we must do for SP to work with the 83/88 update?
richard grimes
I figured it out and have a temporary fix until this is updated. Go into the PDF and find the manual update of the layout.json file. { "path": "SimObjects/Airplanes/MaddogX/sound/MD80_Sp.PC.pck", "size": 140886287, "date": 133027422380000000 }, You will have to add two more of these. The two extras will have the directory to match each aircraft. So a entry for /MaddogX83/ and /MaddogX88/
richard grimes
The 83 and 88 series will be out tomorrow. Is there a way to make it work when the 83 and 88 has their own folder within the maddog folder?
K AKAIO
The exterior sounds are configured as the interior to fade-out and lose about 60% of the ground noises when "in cruise" and you will hear only Wind or a Rumble noise whish is not been enabled yet .
Cristian Calvillo
Hello guys, question... it's me or the external engine sound in flight are very quiet??? we are talking about JT8 engines.
Nick Langley
You lost the sounds from that update?
Brad
Any changes for the new update v1.2.0b147?
K AKAIO
those are the Default sounds
K AKAIO
G-Drive link added
Liam Montgomery
Hello! It seems I'm unable to connect to Mega.nz. Could you provide an alternate link?
PS
Not sure if there's a way to set a sound gradient from the front to the back of the aircraft interior in a future update? For example, engine sounds muted at the front in the flight deck but as you travel back in position the sounds progressively get louder in the cabin. I've worked on this plane for years and at the very front you don't hear the engines but at the back you hear them at full blast. Pretty cool to experience firsthand. The Super 80 was one of a kind!
Brad
Maybe I installed this incorrectly but in the cabin I hear the cockpit ticking noise and the movement of the cabin pressure wheel.
K AKAIO
1/ Rain sounds are currently being fixed for each new sounds update ( CRJ , B787 & A330 Neo are fixed ) 2/ it the Gear Wind ( Drag ) , and yes it is mentioned before from other users and soon will be adjusted (reduced)
Mike G
Two issues that I'd like to report: 1) The rain sound plays when it's snowing, a small thing but can be really jarring when you switch outside in a blizzard and hear what sounds like a spring rainstorm 2) There's a very strong roaring sound when you put the gear down on final approach, much louder than when the gear is down after takeoff, and way louder than it should be. It starts to die off in the last few hundred feet when your speed is still constant, so it doesn't seem to be tied to slowing down
K AKAIO
Are you using the first Standard version or the "(L)" ? π(L) will give you Louder interior Engine on the Cockpit View
Delvillano
Sounds are absolutely fantastic, however the engine sounds in the cockpit are currently too loud. With the engines all the way in the back, they should be a faint hum in the flight deck, even at full power.
K AKAIO
π
Wolfgang Kronfuss
With latest build wind sound is a bit too silent in cruise and when extending gear the wind sound coming from the front gear is too loud. Maybe you can balance the two of them?
Nez Nok
WinMerge says "Completely the same" between new sound.xml and old one. Didn't you mistake with current (26 Jul.) version?
Nez Nok
v1.1.0b125 has arrived. Leonardo stated "Fixed issue with sound in approach"

I have not been able to get this to work in my sim. When i follow the instructions given the entire airplane is erased from the simulator. It no longer shows up on the main menu to select an airplane. Any idea or does anyone have a step by step video on how the properly install this. I am not uber computer savvy with this kind of stuff. Thanks.
Berzerker
Hello, I noticed this from a few updates ago, not sure if anyone reported it, but (from cold & dark) if you turn on the battery, then turn on the *right* EXT PWR BUS, the sound plays for a split second before cutting out.
K AKAIO
There are 2 ways to update the "Layout file" : 1) - Manually ( Use this if the "build.py" tool did not work ) π Make sure to Copy/Paste all the Code including the "{" & "}," 2) - Automatically by using the "build.py" tool ( The safest way to update but require "Python' Program to be installed )
Jannik
When I edit the layout.json, the aircraft doesn't show up in the Menu anymore. Had the same Issue with the 737
K AKAIO
All the Feedback & Comment are Noted π, changes & fixes will be made as mentioned soon as Possible .
K AKAIO
Sounds on the cockpit are barely noticeable in v1.13 , check the MSFS Volumes or try to reduce the "AIRCRAFT ENGINES" volume
K AKAIO
π , No Worries , Those entries (size and date) will not make any Problem if they are different
Kyle Gavin
I'm not sure if I just installed the new version incorrectly but I did not notice a reduction of the internal sounds.
Berzerker
Just an FYI anyone installing 1.13, the layout.json information has changed (size and date) so just be aware, check out the INFO.pdf file
Bill Alicea
Would there be a way to get a slight but at takeoff for the flightdeck but barley any sounds at all when taxing? Or is this just either sound or no sound?
FlyingApe
For those of you that want a more realistic approach to the sounds in the flightdeck do the following - go to lsh-maddogx-aircraft\SimObjects\Airplanes\MaddogX\sound sound.xml, edit with notepad++ find MD80 Sound Mod. Change CombL & R from WwiseData="true" to false. Do the same with Shut L & R, Start L & R and Intake L & R. Save and exit then start the sim. I am not sure if Intake is for the reversers or not, but if you have FSRealistic you will get reverser sounds. By doing the above you wont hear engine sounds from within the flightdeck, you will only hear the cockpit sounds. If you open the windows the engine sounds are still audible. In my opinion, this is a far better method than hearing the engines as if you were in a 737. The MD80 is a quite aircraft from within the flightdeck but one hell of a loud one outside, hopefully this sorts out anyones wishes for a quieter flightdeck.
Bill Alicea
Sounds great, however like Kyle and Chris have mentioned, the engines are really not heard much from the flighdeck..you might get a little of the sounds of full throttle during departure, but mostly wind sound from the front.
Chris D
This is a great sound pack and a big improvement on the default Maddog sounds. I would say the engines need to be just a little quieter in the cockpit if possible? Also, I've noticed that they only seem to respond to engine 1 rpm. Engine 2 does not seem to make any sound (internal). Is this deliberate?
Jasin Amiti
I tested them and they are fantastic. Now it only need a refresh set for the warnings, trim and other cockpit.
Seatback Pocket
I'll second that. The betty call outs are virtually impossible to hear.
Kyle Gavin
Fantastic external sounds, from experience in the maddog jumpseat even packs off TO power (no Flex) the buzzsaw/spool is barley audible in the cockpit (only rumble/vibrations from engines are heard). If possible could we get a version that reduces the cockpit engine sound while preserving the external sounds? Also I'm not sure if the aural warnings like overspeeds, t/o config, stab motion + buzz, are your jurisdiction but in relation to the other ambient sounds they are too quiet.
Jasin Amiti
I need to test it more. Because the cockpit still seems a little quite. Even the sounds of the trim moving is low. I hope you can give the cockpit a little more love.
K AKAIO

K AKAIO
Just extract overwrite the "SimObjects" folder , nothing else is required ( v1.11 & v1.12 share the same configuration )
Jose Colmenares
Is there a way to install the 1.11 version? I assumed it would be to simply download it and install it but when I do the sounds seem to revert to the original maddog sounds. V1.12 does work though, but I like the noisy humming sound from the back. (I know the cockpit doesn't sound like that)
Aymerick B.
Thank you for the update. I really like the new BUZZ sounds. Would it be possible to make a "quiter" version with the engine sound volume equal or if possible even lower to the ones of the previouis version ? Thank you so much cheers
K AKAIO
- Cabin sounds ? , do you mean the engine sounds on the Cabin View ? - is the Problem on the interior only or is it on the Exterior View Too ?
SockelMania
With v1.12 the cabin sounds are completely messed up for me. I do not hear a single difference while moving the throttle lever.
Pixel of Life
Very nice. I don't know how realistic these sounds are, but it's still a massive improvement over the default sounds because the plane actually sounds like a plane now.
SockelMania
I noticed that too! It definitely needs a fix.
David C
Couple things that might be helpful: - If you load the flight on the runway (ready for TO), the internal engine sounds don't seem to play properly. Some of them, maybe the a/c pack sound works but the fan and whine etc. don't play in unless you shut down engines and re-start -When MaddogX was first released, I played around with a legacy sound pack...I learned that the N1/N2 speeds on the cockpit gauges are about 10% higher than the values the sim sees. This means that if you do a FLX takeoff using the FTsim pack (which is normal in many cases...like ~1.82 EPR) you don't get any fan sound, only whine. Fan sound on the MD80s IRL seems to fade out below 75% N1 which translates to 65% N1 in the sim vars.
Nick Langley
They are 45m behind you on the tail after all
Alex1985
Unfortunately I am not able to hear the engines from the inside but on the outside!
Will Brown
I am currently running a beta stage of using your MD-8X sound package for the SGA MD-83 and the FSND MD-83. Both of them were already imported into MSFS from FSX via the FSX Legacy Importer, but the sounds donβt seem to be working at all. Is there any way I can get them to work?
Nez Nok
When using separated throttle, I can't hear engine #2 spool up. In VC, the throttle #2 moves.
NotYourZix
Still struggling to hear the PA and the FO voices :/
richard grimes
Great sounds now. You should bring the gear noise down to about a 1/3 or half the volume it is now.
K AKAIO
π
K AKAIO
after testing the Airplane , a small difference on the N1 RPM % is noticed ( Eng1= 99% Eng2 = 98% ) , that's was causing a minor bug on the sounds and that is why the configuration is changed ( mentioned above on "# What's New :") . > will check more the Parameter to to find and fix any issues if not fixed then will restore the Default settings ( like v1.0)
Nick Langley
v1.1 sounds much better :) The only catch to it now is the gear wind noise, sounds like it's tearing a hole in the fuselage when it's down. Might be a tad loud now the engines are down the back.
Wally Pee
+1
SockelMania
New update released for the MD-80. @FTSim+ can you confirm compatibility? Thanks.
Mike Bergman
FYI it appears the engine sounds are only kicking in when engine 1 is started. If engine 2 is started first (as is normal) there is very little in the way of sounds even after it fires. However if engine 1 is started first the sounds kick in fully like normal. It appears that there are no sounds related to engine 2 at all, and everything is coming from engine 1
K AKAIO
π₯2 Ways a Provided to update the "layout" file : a) Automatically by using the Python script "build.py" b) Manually by adding a few lines on the "layout.json" file using NotePad
Liam Montgomery
Thank you so much for the update! Much, much improved!
Bill Alicea
Are there any videos showcasing these sounds?
Anthony A
Installed this per the directions and have no engine sounds now. Is there a trick to running python?
K AKAIO
Not much ( few days )
SockelMania
Any ETA for the next version? :)
David C
Agreed with the other comments...I pulled the engine sound slider down to 10% and the engines are still overpowering some of the flight deck noises. Sounds pretty good otherwise...I was a fan of the MD80 pack for XP11 and this is very similar.
Wolfgang Kronfuss
Thx a lot for this mod! Engines are too loud on the flightdeck tough...
Nicolas Navarrete
Hi, is a bit loud in the cockpit, but this mod enhances the experience of flying this acf
Liam Montgomery
I agree with the above comments. Maybe have one version that's loud for people who want it, and one more realistic version that simulates the engines being so far back! Otherwise it's fantastic!
Berzerker
The sounds are way better but I think the volume in the cockpit should be reduced a bit, not a lot though.
Nick Langley
These sounds are nice, except it sounds like the engines are bolted onto the jump seat not 50m down the back.. Is there a file I can tweak to make them quieter rather than adjusting the sims settings for all?
Nicholas McGee
My thoughts the sounds are going in the right direction. The engines are a little too loud in the cockpit. You canβt hear the landing gear as well. The actual engine sound is much more closer to the real aircraft. Look forward to future updates! π€π»
Liam Montgomery
Thank you SO much! I can't wait to see where this goes!
Harrison
Finally, thank you!
Nicholas McGee
OMG yes!!! Thank you!!
