First off, I love your work - the passion and energy you put into every video is what has had me rewatching old uploads over and over in the… interminably long ;) interval since your last video. I’m sorry you’ve had so much trouble both with plagiarism and the ivory-tower academics in the last year. Just know what you’re doing is really worthwhile and valued!

If you’re ever looking to dip into looking at music in anime without the huge episode commitment, “A Place Further Than The Universe” might be a good place to start. It’s full story happens in 1 season of 13 episodes at ~20 min a piece including credits and intro. The music in this show is fantastic at enhancing emotions and is frequently given the space it needs to do it. It also plays with genre pretty effectively in addition to leitmotifs. Comical mad dash through Tokyo alleys? Country/folk music. Dramatic Antarctic vista? Full orchestral. Overcoming past hurt and moving forward? Solo piano. One of the best uses of score to really help tell a story I’ve seen in anime.
