A Few Too Many
🕑 Added 2015-01-16 00:12:47 +0000 UTC I am still posting another Patreon comic for this week. No worries. I had a huge technical problem with this strip. Tuesday's original comic and everything I had done for it had to be completely scrapped because of a huge oversight on my part. The original comic was a lead in to this one in which Rosemary is persuading Herb to spend time with Pumpkin since she's been moping around the house for a week. Herb says he will once the Bucs football game is over. Rosemary promptly turns off the tv and says "Allow me to save you the next three hours of your life, THEY LOSE." Unfortunately, for as long as I've had this comic planned out, it never once occurred to me the timing of this strip and the story would place the events in late March or April. The Bucs would obviously not be playing. Why I didn't catch this until I was almost completely done with the strip, I'll never know. I'll just save that gag for later. And yes, Tampa has a miserable team. haha

I'd suspect that's an Anise confusion, but there's no beard involved.

I don't care about sports, but I do pay attention to bits in the comic to try to determine how much time has passed. Though being from Ohio I might've misinterpreted that as him cheering for OSU Buckeyes, which wouldn't indicate the sport necessarily.
This is going to sound ... trite? I guess trite is kind of the word I'm going for, but ... I only recognized one of your pop culture references. I grew up without a television, in case you need to make sense of that sentence. While I recognize the Rusche blurs the lines between reality and the humor that can come from stepping into the surreal, It seems that the parents are the ones who are more grounded in reality while the youngest Buckinghams are the ones who dabble in the occult. Not discounting your position of course. It just seems that the guy who is in charge of dealing with a civilian release of an omega level pestilence in a mall crowded with Black Friday shoppers is going to have more than a fingernail's hold on reality. But then again, it's a hilarious webcomic. Who knows, perhaps Herb is so messed up from his daughter's shenanigans that he has a pint of Jack Daniels for breakfast. Only time shall tell.

You've seen Sledge Hammer, right? How about Police Squad, Last Action Hero, Family Matters, Mike and Molly? People do not need to be sane to have a job. That's just insane.
But he's managed to retain his position as Chief of Police?
Mr. Blue
I find no fault at this, as I've witnessed parents not knowing which child is which. Bill Cosby did say, "Come over here you," and "But Dad, I'm Jesus Christ."
Mr. Blue
He did go crazy years ago, don'tcha know.

Hey Pumpkin. Wanna Go See a Bear Ride a Motorcycle?

You could have gone for the Devil Rays or the Orlando Magic instead...
Poor Pumpkin. At least he remembered she's one of his.

Wow, that is a little sad. Hopefully Herb will take ranks in fatherly affection.
I fall within that 90%. Currently listening to a lecture given by a theoretical physicist. Sports? Bah!

I'm gonna be honest here- I suspect that 90% of your readership probably wouldn't have even registered that timing of your original proposed strip was off.
How about a link, if I can post it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avaSdC0QOUM Oh! Uh, not safe for work or delicate, tender girly ears.
Time for Dad to level up as a parent. So far he's been kind of out of it.

Tarra's just so larger than life I'd have trouble seeing her hunting with more than her bare hands. Though I could definitely see this situation: "Number 5, can you get this blindfold adjusted a little better and tighten the straight jacket a little more? I'm hunting bears this afternoon and I don't want it to be TOO easy. Thanks." I could also imagine her playing the "Kiss Me Dear" game from Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, at least until she turned 9.
BrandX
Which may be why she likes it. It's just relaxing to her. She may also be the type who likes the outdoors, so wouldn't be surprised if she enjoyed hunting.

Um, I'd like to buy a segue please?

NCAA basketball playoffs are called March Madness, so you could've played it off as a basketball playoff game, or baseball early season. Also, I do like seeing the implied compassionate attitude from Rosemary in regards to Pumpkin. Tarra likes fishing of all things? Seriously and not just humoring Pop? Does she actually the time to commune with alternate planes or something? Fishing just seems like an activity with too little result for the time spent for an over-achiever like Tarra.

Is this where Ellie gets her laziness from?

Wow, honey. Wish I could say thats not true... Sorry I was responding to Pumkin there for a minute. After five girls sometimes you forget who you've told what.
