Many things had happened since his return today, making it a bit hard for Kaito to digest all at once.
First, he met his old teammate, Nara Yaneko, who sneakily advised him to escape as soon as possible.
Then he ran into the kid Naruto and even teased him a few times in passing.

"Come out, don't make me nauseous like sewer rats."
Thinking to himself, Kaito directly called out, but he had already prepared himself for a fight.

This time, he didn't use any special techniques because there was simply no need for it. After all, this was Konoha, and Kaito couldn't go full out without a reason.

The kunai quickly penetrated into those hiding spots. In the next moment, the sound of metal collisions, accompanied by sparks, flickered in the night sky.
Alongside the continuous sounds, several figures suddenly leaped out from these hiding spots, and their emergence confirmed Kaito's suspicions.

"If you want me to come with you, then perhaps you should make clear who you are."
Kaito remained unaffected by the words of this individual. He had some things that he needed to confirm.
"Moreover, even if I were to go with you, you should give me a reason."
"We don't need a reason to carry out our duties."
The Anbu member shook his head outright, his tone becoming even colder, uncomfortably chilling to the bone.
"You have two choices. One, to come with us peacefully, or two, we take you by force."
Upon hearing this hardline stance, Kaito was taken aback for a moment, then couldn't help but laugh. Now, he was certain who these people in front of him were.
He was well acquainted with Shisui, hence he naturally knew about the modus operandi of the Anbu. When the Anbu apprehended someone, it was always based on tangible evidence, they wouldn't lay a hand without giving a reason.
However, there's one department that wouldn't care much for explanations, they apprehend without needing a reason.
Even when they kill, they merely justify it with 'you threatened Konoha's safety' and dismiss it, no reason needed for discussion.
Thinking of this, Kaito's eyes started to turn dangerous. Danzo was one of the characters he loathed the most in the original storyline, bar none.
Full of sanctimonious expressions, all rhetoric in speech, but all business in mind, probably nobody would like such a person.
Upon this realization, Kaito wasted no more time in idle chatter, and immediately assumed a combat stance.
Given his identity, he wouldn't be aware of the existence of Root, but this could serve to his advantage. He could frame those in front of him as impostors of the Anbu!
"It seems you haven't quite grasped my background, one of my friends happens to be a member of the Anbu."
The three tomoe in Kaito's eyes spun rapidly, the chakra within him primed and ready, and his voice began to deepen.
"The Anbu doesn't operate the way you do. While I'm not sure why you're doing this, impersonating the Anbu is a serious crime."
"It seems like you're not planning to come with us, huh?"
The leader eyed Kaito's movements, exhibiting no reaction, as if performing a routine task, he casually delivered a monologue, and lightly waved his hand.
"If that's the case, then kill him."
As the words fell, the other Root ninjas didn't respond, but they practically rushed toward Kaito in unison almost instantly.
Observing their aggressive stance, Kaito knew this matter probably wouldn't end peacefully.
And him, who already disliked Danzo, at this moment detested Danzo, this troublemaker, even more.
"But since you sent your men to their deaths, don't blame me."
Kaito thought to himself as the three tomoe in his eyes spun faster and faster.
He suddenly flashed a smile, ignoring the group of ninjas rushing toward him, he said softly,
"A bunch of beetle-like fools, today you'll get a proper taste of the power of the Uchiha!"
