Foregone Fables Dust Guide - Fire
🕑 Added 2018-05-08 09:46:09 +0000 UTCFor as far as mankind remembers itself, it has feared fire. So beautiful, yet so deadly, neither matter nor energy, and anything that dares touch it will turn into nourishment. The long-bygone civilizations that have created Dust have shared this fear, and it was of their best interest to harness the power of fire to their will. And thus, one of the oldest forms of magic was born.
Fire Dust, Combustion Dust or Incendiary Dust is most commonly a powder. Huntsmen are often amazed by it and its uses, but to most people, it's as scary as the fire it produces. At a natural state, Fire Dust explodes in a burst of fire when triggered. It can be triggered by being shot or near an explosion, its burnout instant and violent. Its magically induced fire is just as deadly as regular fire, and can spread the same way. For those reasons, Incendiary Dust is not recommended for usage in a populated environment and is a key tool in crowd control. A user who has infused their body with Flame Dust will become considerably stronger, gain limited fire immunity and their skin will begin to erupt into flame, enabling them to burn the targets subjected to their attacks as well as firing flame jets from their body. However, the user will rather risk being burned from the inside.
Like many types of Dust, Fire Dust can be used in more controlled ways via weapons and other devices. These include igniting a weapon in fire as well as direct jets of fire, flame beams, fireballs, pillars and rings of fire, and more elaborate moves like fire tornadoes or barriers that restrict movements. Incendiary Dust can also be used to generate heat, which depending on intensity can melt a plethora of materials, from ice to metal. The jets produced by this Dust can be used for propulsion and flight, and more skilled users can create constructs of fire, such as fire whips, scythes, lances, blades or gaping maws, as well as bullets in different shapes, such as a cross. Further mastery allows the user to create constructs in the shape of living animals or monsters, that can sometimes even mutate and reform while active. The fire can also be made oxidized, turning it blue or purple and even more powerful than normal.
Fire Dust is the default option for most huntsmen when it comes to destructive weaponry. As such it is common among them, and has become iconic to Dust weaponry as a whole. To many, Incendiary Dust is a symbol of humanity's strength and power to harness the very world, as well as its destructiveness.
Flame Dust was the start of humanity's campaign of stealing the power of nature and using it to destroy nature itself and its protectors. With it, fire transformed in mankind's eyes from the fiery wrath of the world, to a weapon they shall use to destroy it.
