Gonna be a little late on the winner of the last one again, I'm not really satisfied with how it's coming out and wanna start over on it. I tried borrowing my sister's scanner so I could skip the inking phase entirely, as I always said if I could just get my sketches to look cleaner I would just color them in and call them finished cuz I hate inking, even after switching over to using the pencil tool with more forgiveness so I'm not even sure if I can still call that part inking, it's still not very fun cuz I'm just repeating a sketch I already sketched. and so far doing the sketch on paper has been the only thing that gets them that clean, probably because the paper has more tooth than my glossy tablet screen, and I thought if I could just get the raw sketch onto my computer then I could just use that as the lines, but I just don't think it looks very good. For reference, that Pomni pic I did for Gooseworx' birthday the other day on the vanilla alt (that's what I'm calling it instead of the SFW alt) is also a scanned sketch, and by themselves I don't mind the lines being kinda messy, but when the colors are much cleaner and more precise it just looks out of place, I'd rather if it either all looked traditional or all looked digital, not half-in-half. (At least Goose liked it :P)
Maybe if I could find a screen protector that has a comparable amount of tooth to paper, it would be horrible on the pen nibs but it would be worth it to be able to make my digital sketches as clean as my traditional ones. If I can't do that then I might have to change my art style completely around the look of the scanned sketches, and god knows what that's going to take. Maybe I'll just skip the lines and try to develop a lineless style, or maybe one of those ones where it's mostly lineless with some lines selectively placed in some places. And unfortunately if I did that I'd probably have to ajust my commission prices around an entire step that factored into them before getting cut.
My brain's going a mile a minute right now thinking of problems, solutions, potential consequences to those solutions, I really need to anchor myself because I quit caffeine years ago specifically so my brain wouldn't do that
