I was experimenting with Fantasy Dream AI Studio's AI art app again last night. Using my photos of built model kits and got alot of fun results. Once I settled on a theme and concept.

Hey there! Thanks for your comment! Gotta admit, it's kind of a relief to hear your positivity as we were a bit nervous about talking about AI lol. The internet tends to amplify the noisiest and flashiest opinions, so it's easy for the nuances to get lost in the shuffle. I think a bunch of folks freak out about AI because they're just plain scared, and I can't really blame them for that I suppose... Thing is, it's already happened and it's here to stay. So whether or not its gonna stick is no longer the debate imo. Anyways, thanks again for your comment and stay safe out there!

Hey again! As a bilingual person who thinks, speaks, and acts natively in two different languages, I have noticed over the years that a huge part of a person's personality comes from the culture behind the language they speak. It's not just the words or the language itself, it's the culture. For example, I'm a different person when I speak Japanese compared to when I speak English, and even some of my core beliefs conflict because of these cultural backgrounds. So when you say that AI is applying a different personality, it's not really any different from something more traditional like Google Translate. This is because the person who is getting their words translated doesn't have a personality in that language. So there's no need to be creeped out. As someone who has been using chatGPT a lot lately, I can assure you that GPT can get the tone across of the original speaker much more accurately than something like Google Translate, where so much context and culture can be lost (At least in Japanese). Thanks for your comment again! =D

This is such a great post! I love the in-depth exploration of how AI can and can't be of assistance in the creative process — so many of the opinions online about AI are at one extreme or another, either totally for or totally against, and it's rare to see something like this which offers a glimpse into the nuances instead of focusing on the hype. Thank you very much for sharing. This sort of thing should get a wider audience!

Thanks a lot for the comprehensive answer! Just wanted to reply to the last part (regarding the translators), and it's that the way you use a normal translator is that it helps you to translate things that you don't know how to convey properly, but an AI translator can do most of the job by itself, and then you only fix some things here and there. That makes me wonder if the translation it made conveys things as you would normally do as a person, or if that AI translation is "applying" a different "personality" to it... (I don't know if I'm making sense with that explanation, though... it's like the person who's behind things now is a different one) In any case, it's a very personal thing as we both agreed, so thanks again for your hard work!

Thanks for the comment Serigo >I believe in human effort to do this kind of things And it's totally your right to beleive so! I know it's a pretty touchy subject for some folks right now, we just wanted to show our views and apprecaition for the things are currently happening in the tech sphere. Though you should probably remember that simmilar things have been said about so many things that were replaced by automation and technological advancements. People hated CG when it first happened in movies, like humanity was being sucked out by not having "real" sets and people doing "real" acting. Some crazy people still think this even today. As for a visual novel made totally by AI and humans doing the editing... I honestly wouldnt be surprised if something like that already existed. I dont know if the average creator would be satisfied with relinqushing so much control over their work though. We certainly wouldnt because we a) dont really make Visual Novels for the most part right now and b) have a very specific thing we're trying to acheive but even if it wasnt... it’s not our position to say otherwise about other peoples work. If they want to pump out fast and cheap VNs and try to rake in the cash, hey... kudos to them. In a sense there are already people like that where they hire low grade writers at slave labor wages and slap on a high grade artists work and call it a day. If you ask me, someone who uses AI to carefully curate their work is probably making something more interesting than the sweat shop guy... but again, to each their own. It really all depends on the context. >Actually, it creeps me seeing that even the post and comments are being translated by an AI. Does Google translate freak you out? How about DeepL? Or Gramamrly to fix your grammar? Or even the red qugily line in Microsoft Office, telling you made an error and doing things like fixing tenses automatically for you? Where do you draw the line if the intent of the written message is in tact? It's all moving very fast and the pace can be worrying, I sympathize though I gently ask you to consider that at least currently, to people like us, AI is just a tool to get our message across. Hope you have a good and safe day!

Hey, thanks for the comment. As written in the post even Hare-sans Japanese was translated by AI. I also threw in a few words via GPT to summarize what I wanted to say for certain parts too and I’m a native English speaker lol. Its almost like we had an editor for the text... The way I see it, it’s already creeping into our lives and theres no turning back. Hope you enjoyed some of the werido experiments that we are doing. It’s certainly an interesting time we live in. (As for Stable Diffusion... we’ll try to hone it a bit more. We have it running locally on our computer here at the office so it’s a bit more customizable but it is true that it’s kinda janky right now

It really is beyond interesting at this point. I feel as though pandoras box has been opened and there is no going back. Theres a fairly big problem for us at least where finding applicable situations are fairly limited since our next game we’re making is totally custom made... but we’re hoping some time in the future that some LLM can get an wholistic understanding of the underlying code that makes up our game so we can speak to it to get the desired results... but that probably won’t happen anytime soon. Or it’ll happen in a few months. Who knows... everything is evolving way too fast.

In my personal opinion, I wouldn't like to be an user of a visual novel (or any kind of art/product) that used AI to help making the artwork or anything... I believe in human effort to do this kind of things... The opposite (and extreme) example of what I wouldn't like to see (so I can explain myself better), is a visual novel with both artwork and script made entirely by an AI, and then just revised by a human to fix some things here and there. Actually, it creeps me seeing that even the post and comments are being translated by an AI.

This was a great read. Been following AI closely since a few years ago and now it truly is something special to be looked at. I can only imagine how much better it'll be in a few months to a year. Hopefully this'll help artist achieve the things they want to do.

I found stable diffusion and other models are not easy to work with. Sometimes I need a long prompt that looks like a magic spell instead of an instruction for drawing, especially when working with large images with a lot of details. However, my profile image was generated by stable diffusion. I do like that. AI does offer me an opportunity to draw whatever I want without negotiating back and forth with the artist (normally I feel bad for annoying the artist with my ignorance), considering that I'm a software developer and have no idea about drawing. I recently tried AI copilot, the thing that helps you code, which is kind of cool, but sometimes I found the AI did a great job of predicting my next movement, which makes me feel creepy and replaceable. But it does help a lot and boosts my progress. Even this reply is constructed with the help of a not yet publicized AI tool, which suggests to me how I should "speak". Kind of creepy, but considering English is not my first language, it does help a lot.
