The mix of the everyday element with the titillation of female flesh only hidden by bizarrely persistent puffs of steam heroically striving to keep the censors away has granted them a place in any rom-com worth said name and plenty of mangas that would, at first glance, not fit the genre at all.
There’s also plenty of variety in said scenes. From the always favored hot springs (extra points if the whole story occurs in a building with easy access to them), to the mundane yet classic girl throwing a bucket of water over herself behind the ground glass of the door before sliding into the weirdly green and opaque water of the tub, to the almost folkloric visit to the public baths after the water heater gets inexplicably broken (with a nearly guaranteed martial arts battle in which the resident not-completely-scummy guy tries to stop his “friends” from peeking on the girls’ side).
To the shower scene.
The shower scene is a special breed among bath scenes. There’s not the same languid relaxation to be found, as the character in question is upright, actively washing themselves. Yet such an act also serves to highlight how they are touching their naked bodies, only covered by strategic suds and errant hands. It highlights every lewd aspect of the scene while having the barest, thinnest pretense of being setting appropriate. And, as all Westerners who have heard the word “cinema” know, it’s been used to great effect to showcase the vulnerability of the nubile, lithe, attractive character in question.
For instance, such a showering character could be completely naked, rubbing shampoo into his itchy scalp, just as the door to the bath creaks open and a dark silhouette appears on the threshold.
“Kyaaa?” he will inevitably protest, fearing his chastity in danger.
“It’s my bath, brat,” he will be cruelly rebuked after his efforts to maintain a decent, wholesome scene with no erotic undertones that would make black bars plentiful over the page prove futile.
“It is my turn, though,” he will understandably argue.
“Are you… Are you really protesting me joining you?” his Christmas Cake teacher will gape at him, her silhouette more distinguishable now that she’s closer, inside the room, and very clearly naked in a way that makes the colorists splurge on the pink.

Thank you very much, as usual :) I agree the phone-sex was quite interesting as a scene, as it also provided some impetus to the plot and character development and set up what may be my favorite chapter in the fic (that is: Haruno drinking wine). About what else I'll come up with... I think I really need to plan out the next few chapters, as I kinda feel like I'm running out of things to say and I've more or less settled on a final arc, epilogues non-withstanding. I'd love to revisit the characters as time goes on, but I don't think the current pace is the right way to do it.

I've been wondering when another scene between Shizuka and Hachiman would kick off. It's been too long, though I understand the necessity of balancing the plot between all of the actors. Iroha is goddamn adorable. Her role as a principle driving force for the plot is well established and operating smoothly. I also have the feeling that she's going to be prone to taking more risks, especially as her exhibitionist streak develops. I look forward to all outcomes. While the vanilla scenes you write are excellent, such as the shower scene just now, arguably the best scene you've written was the cellphone scene between Haruno, Shizuka and Hachiman. No Tab A into Slot B was involved, and the recent scene with Haruno in the kitchen an excellent successor. Well-written intimacy is a major driving force in this fic and I'm interested to see what else you can come up with.
