Completely agreed, I'm glad to be done with him for the foreseeable future. In Lisa's case, her plan was precisely to set up binary choices initiated by Coil that she could react to according to what she knows about him, but in a way that Coil didn't see it coming. That whole "collaborate or don't collaborate" was about that, because she had predicted the way he would act in each timeline, and she let out the insult about Cobra Comander right when he was in reach of the hidden weapon so she could see which Coil took the bait and which didn't, counting on Shooter!Lisa to correctly interpret his tells when he didn't rise up to the bait (or on knowing that Coil didn't split the timeline, if the taunt failed). Yes, it still was risky and could have failed, but at most she would have lost a couple of hours, because there was no way Taylor would have let Coil hurt Lisa. Anyway, that's all secondary to the chapter being a fun read, so I'll be glad if that ultimate objective was achieved.

Thank you! I admit to feeling a bit of pressure when writing him, because I fear I'll never be able to top his "School Shooter" performance, but I still love him to bits.

This was fun, but the plan Lisa goes with is a little fraught with peril when it comes to initiating it. You can't really make a plan against Coil that starts with "In one reality, I'll do A and in another, I'll do B" because you have no way to determine which one the current 'you' should execute. You could attempt to determine it by random chance such as flipping a coin, but of course, it is random, you could easily end up with both 'you's doing the same thing. The only way you might be able to pull that off would be to set up a binary choice that you have sufficient reason to believe Coil will absolutely have to split on. The danger there, is if he is already in a split and doesn't start a new one at that choice, your plan is likely screwed. I think one way to increase your chances of pulling it off would be to set up a forced decision for him that requires a split to be safe. For instance, you could tell yourself: At 5:00 PM, I am going to inform Coil via intercom that he is about to be taken to conference room A or B, and it will be his choice which to go to. If he is not in the correct room with you at 5:01, the micro-explosive strapped to his neck will be set off. You then flip a coin to determine which room you will wait in for him. When he is in the room with you at that point, you can have a high degree of confidence that he doesn't have a timeline older than 5:00 currently running. Unfortunately, it still doesn't get you the additional split you need to determine whether you are going to act with method A or method B. As I said, that can't be a random chance, it needs to be some binary choice you are confident he would split on and that you can observe such that you can set your method based on whatever observation you make on his actions. Coil really is such a pain.

Colin's deadpan is as hilarious as ever.
