Flynn strode to his closet to grab his old jacket, zipping up to announce he was leaving. It got cold in the hallways of the colony flagship even when the climate control was set to the median of all the different species on board. He turned to the lump of calerian lying on his cot and unconsciously smiled. It was hard not to with how cutely disheveled and limbs akimbo she was, somehow taking up nearly all of the bed despite her barely coming up to his collarbone height-wise anymore.
“So babe, what did you want from the cafeteria again? I can bring up anything you like, my treat.” He offered to her.
Her ears perked up at that but not much else, though she ran a hand through the waves of her messy purple hair in order to see him properly. She had, without a doubt, the worst case of bed-head he’d seen since leaving Earth. “I want…” she began, her words belabored by her squished lungs; “I want you to bring me everything. All the food on the ship. Just bring ReNN and the fridge in here, I’ll figure something out.”
Flynn laughed and moved to her side by the edge of the bed, patting the frankly ridiculous swell of her overripe belly without really needing to bend down, then absently tried to tug down the shirt she had stolen from him days prior without much success. It felt like every hour the hem crept further and further away from her bellybutton and closer to the swell of her gradually growing breasts; like continental drift.
“You better put some pants on for that then, or I could just bring whatever can fit in my arms. You, uh… you sure you got any room left in there for food?” He ended that query with a gentle rub. He couldn’t help himself.
“Mnnng, wait a sec. I’m getting’ up.” Rae told him, beginning to rock in the general direction of her boyfriend.
“Whoa there, hold up- need a hand? I can help-” Flynn began, but Rae waved a hand at him to discourage the thought and he went quiet. Her tail whipped about wildly to balance her as she rocked and shuffled herself onto her hands and knees, but she only managed to hold it there for a second or two before she moaned in discomfort and collapsed back onto her side again.
“Ohhhh nope, nope, nuh-uh. That’s not gonna work. Too eggy.” She sighed, wincing and holding her middle. There was so much belly now that it stuck out further than her hands and knees extended on the bed. “Flynn? How many days has it been now?”
“I dunno, maybe a week?” It had, in fact, been only six days but he didn’t want to discourage her plan to carry her brood to term by reminding her that she was only halfway there.
Rae sighed again, this time entirely just to be dramatic. “By this size usually I’d have eight legs and be busy making a nest by now.”
Writing by the lovely Re-Phage:
“Did you want to do that instead of this? Breaking my perfectly good shirt?” He suggested, toying with the stretched-out fabric again.
She pulled a sour face at him, clearly showing her displeasure. “I said I’m gonna do this and I’m gonna, just you wait. It’s going to be amazing. Instead of… everything, I guess, can you bring me some pizza? Super supreme with extra anchovies and cheese?”
He leant down and kissed her, finding a simple sort of happiness in the way that she rocked and strained just a little bit to bridge the gap between them. “Silly rabbit,” he grinned after he pulled away; “bunnies don’t eat pizza.”
“This one does!” She proclaimed in defiance, bristling yet also beaming. “I want five pizzas. No, maybe six. Six supreme and one extra with just mushrooms and cheese.”
“Well alright, but that’s going to cost you one photo of a round, sexy girlfriend.” Flynn warned her, but he was already whipping out his pocket computer as he said it.
He thought she might squeak and cover herself up, but instead she broke expectations and posed.
Anything for a slice, he thought fondly.
