🕑 Added 2023-06-26 21:34:48 +0000 UTCHey! Before we get into the changelog and what's new in this version I feel I owe you all a little explanation as to why it's been a while since the last release. I am a relatively private person and I don't like to share too much about what's going on in my life, but considering that what has transpired these last couple of months has delayed me from delivering what I want to deliver in the timeframe I want to deliver it I want to let you all know why.
First of all, I am in good health and everything is basically good over here. Late April a close relative of mine died, after being ill for years, and I got tasked with taking care of the funeral arrangements, the estate, and everything that entails. This was way more time consuming than I ever could've imagined. So dealing with the loss, while staying in a different city than my own to be able to clean out my late relative's apartment, dealing with real estate agents, making sure everyone got their inheritance, and a boatload more has taken me the better part of a couple of months.
This process has not only been time consuming but also very taxing mentally and physically. The days I had back home basically went into trying to rest up, spend time with my family and focus on working on the mod. I intentionally had to just ignore Patreon and Discord as much as possible to avoid getting too distracted as that would have delayed this release even further.
Anyways, now there's a light in the end of the tunnel. Most of the things have been dealt with, and this new release is done and dusted. I didn't make this statement to get any pity or consolation or what have you, but I felt you deserve an explanation as to why I have seemed to have been absent from this platform lately.
Last but not least, thanks to all of you for sticking with me and giving me your continuous support regardless of me being more slow than usual with this release. I am unbelievably grateful for all of you. So... let's get to it:

🏵️ Addicts Anonymous
This is something I have been wanting to do for a very long time. The fact that I started working on this prior to all the RL stuff that suddenly started to take place was not ideal timing wise as this has been a relatively big undertaking. I am sure this feature will provide a lot of storytelling, gameplay value and further realism in terms of dealing with addiction and rehabilitation.
What Is It?
Addicts Anonymous is a combination of the real life counterparts Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous and their 12 step models. In the mod it is a 10 step model that is based on the aforementioned 12 step models.
Joining Addicts Anonymous
Once a Sim has become sober from any serious drug or alcohol addiction they will get a call from someone in AA letting them know that they are welcome to attend a meeting.
To attend a meeting, go to the Drugs tab on your relevant Sim's phone and select Attend AA Meeting. Meetings are available on weekdays from 6PM to 10PM. The meeting is a rabbithole event.
Once your Sim has attended a meeting they are on Step 1 of the program. Read the notifications that come with each level up to see what is needed to progress to the next step of the program. It can vary from attending meetings, calling your sponsor, making amends with Sims your Sim have hurt through their past behavior to other things.
Craving Mood
There's a new Mood that comes with this update that gives former addicts a craving to do the drug they used to be addicted to.
The craving can show up at any time, but there are ways to get rid of it. Through AA interactions or other means. Working out and woohoo interactions will get rid of the mood for you, so will calling your sponsor for a chat, attending meetings or meeting your sponsor to get help with the 10 step program. Spiritual Meditation which is acquired at step 9 will also get rid of the mood for you.
The chance of getting the craving mood gets reduced the higher up in the 10 step program your Sim is at. A Sim that has maxed out the 10 Step Program skill will rarely be craving any drugs.
Sponsors and Sponsees
Once your Sim reaches step 2 of the 10 step program they will get a Sponsor through the program. Your Sim can now call their Sponsor to chat if they get a craving mood, or meet up with them to get help to work through the step they are on.
This meeting is a rabbithole event and some of the levels require you to do this instead of attending meetings in order to level up to the next step.
Once your Sim reaches level 9 they will get a sponsee as well. Meaning your Sim will now become a sponsor for another Sim. This Sim can call your Sim every now and then when they are struggling with their addiction. This is an anonymous Sim and not really assigned to anyone in your game world in case you don't have other Sims in your game world that are actual AA members.
You can however change your sponsee to a real Sim by clicking on another Sim that is an AA member, go to Friendly > Activities > Become Sponsor For
Once your Sim is a sponsor for another Sim you can click on them and help them through their problems with social interactions, and your Sims sponsee can click on your Sim and get help with working through their issues. Performing these interactions will build towards your Sims current skill level in the 10 step program.

Venue List
To make sure this mod works you need to download the updated Basemental Drugs venue list provided in this post. I recommend installing this venue list in a separate folder directly in your Mods folder called: Basemental Venue List. I also recommend updating it whenever there is a new mod version out as I constantly add in new custom venue compatibility from other mod authors.
Choose one of these 2 installation methods. Not both.
Basemental Drugs Installer (WINDOWS ONLY)
- Delete all the old Basemental Drugs files from your Mods folder.*
- Download this Basemental Drugs.exe file.
- Run the Basemental Drugs.exe file.
- Choose which Optional Packages you want included.
- Delete your localthumbcache.package
* If you installed from the installer previously, you can delete the old files by launching the file called unins000.exe in your Basemental Drugs folder.
Basemental Drugs Zip (WINDOWS OR MAC)
- Delete all the old Basemental Drugs files from your Mods folder.
- Download the Basemental Drugs zip file.
- Unzip the Basemental Drugs zip file.
- Place the files in a folder titled Basemental Drugs in your Mods folder.
- Delete the Basemental Drugs zip file.
- Delete your localthumbcache.package

Your Sim must first get addicted to a serious drug then get sober, either through Rehab sessions, cheats or just cold turkey'ing it. Then you will get the option to attend meetings through the Drugs tab on the phone. If you still have issues with it, try the support channel on the Discord server.

Sorry for your lost, but I have a question I have my sim doing all kinds of drugs and alcohol and i was excited to send her to AA and have a sponsor and all that and the option isnt popping up. What am I doing wrong? Im looking on the computer and phone and I still dont see any new options for basemental. Please help me. Also I appreciate your work, you do a great job.

It was a bug in the release before this one. Make sure you delete the old version before updating to this release

Please head over to the Discord server with the BE report. Often times the exceptions are just showing the stack trace which might list mods that inject into various EA modules but aren't necessarily the actual cause of the exception. It is easier for us to pinpoint what the error truly is about if you head over there

im having trouble adding this mod to my Mac I keep getting tuning exception text I restarted the sims 4 and transferred mods and cc one by one even putting the heavy scripts like mccc and basemental in first still no luck....is anyone else having problems....I usually just keep basmental, cc folder with slider and presets, mccc, ui cheat extension. could those be the probleem I also ran conflict with my cc and rid all conflict cc

hi i may seem dumb lol but when i put basemental venue list into my mods...when i get into game i can't find the venue lots anywhere in my library. i find the lot traits i need just not the venue. any ideas what i may be doing wrong? thanks

You need to max out any of the dealing skills first and foremost as it is intended to be like an endgame add-on mod to dealing. There are cheats to make that go faster though, like bmg.enable_gangs maxes out your cocaine dealing skill. Then you'll get the gangs tab on your Sims phone
