Rarthon _ Another massive settlement map to explore
🕑 Added 2022-01-18 13:16:32 +0000 UTC31/Jan/22_CORRECTION: Map is A1 poster sized. 32x22 inches @300dpi if printed.
Good evening everyone ... at least, it is evening here as I write this ... it might even still be evening by the time I finish writing if I don't get too verbose ...
Here is the city of Rarthon... the 1st big explorable settlement of 2022.
90 hours in the making, with plenty of places to get lost in as you roam around.
This city/oversized town is built mostly on the cliff tops so as to not waste too much of the verdant land below. There are a few floating rocks scattered around, some floating loose, some tied down. The architecture is dominated by round and octagonal buildings, mostly organised into walled compounds. A few isolated huts are scattered on the outskirts and on smaller floating islands.
Flight will be an important element in this landscape when you visit, with many locations inaccessible any other way.
For flexibility in setting the map into your world, I tried to draw the structures and landing platforms in such a way that Rarthon could be set in a fantasy world where Griffons and/or other flying beasts are used for transport OR it could be set in a si-fi/steam-punk-ish sort of world where blimps and other sorts of air transport are often used to get around.... All the map variations come with and without a scattering of blimps.
For example: The large netted domes in the top-left could be for keeping/training winged creatures in OR as training/entertainment domes for new small craft/jetpack users. I have labeled 25 different locations with my ideas for what they could be to inspire your imaginations
And then I went and made about twice as many variations as I had intended...
Oopsy-bonusses ;-)
I have spread them around rather than keeping ALL the extra ones for Surveyors.
Hope you enjoy visiting Rarthon
I would love to hear about what happens when you visit ...

And similarly with this version: I can't seem to find the link or files in the Archive - am I missing something?

I will look forward to hearing about how it develops ;-)
Perfectly timed that I found your Patreon as I begin to flesh out the mostly desert continent of my Homebrew World.
