🕑 Added 2022-01-02 07:14:14 +0000 UTCHappy new year everyone :-)
Summary
2022 is about settlement maps in as many varied environments as possible. I have an ideas list already - more are welcome any time
1st map should be out in a couple of weeks - comment below with any ideas for special locations you would like me to try and find a spot for them on the map
If you are not already a Patreon-supporter, please consider signing up & helping me bring more settlements to life.
I am really looking forward to this year of creating interesting settlement maps for you
I have several ideas already for settlements in various environments from ocean reef to desert, forest, sky & canyon cliffs. My plan is to explore as many varied environments as possible ... and then, just for fun, do my best to find them a spot on the world map I am creating for them - see the snipit in the header. Existing settlement maps already have space on it and I will share the whole thing once I have it mostly finished.
If you have any ideas for interesting settlements/landscapes you would like to see mapped, I am always open to suggestions. If I am inspired by your idea, I will add it to my working list ...
As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, the first map of the year will be set in rough broken cliff country. This is an area with small scattered floating rocks 'islands' & where most structures are up on the cliff tops, with the lower ground level reserved for dense plantings of crops and orchards - work in progress snipit below
Architecture/buildings style is round or octagonal, with most dwellings being walled compounds. Potential for flight is a large part of the map, with most cliff-side compounds and buildings having landing platforms for small air-vehicles or winged mounts to land on ...depending on if you want to use the map in a fantasy, si-fi, or steam punk setting. Several places are accessible by air only
If you have any special location requests that you would like to visit if/when you bring your party here, pop them below and I will see what I can do about finding them a spot :-)

Breathing life into these detailed, explorable, non-generic settlement maps takes a lot of time ... about 60-80 hours each.... so the time cost to me per map is a couple weeks worth. I would love to see my Patreon income match the time input I put into them. Every little bit helps :-)
Perhaps we will make it there this year! who knows?
Here are some different ways you can contribute to the creation of future settlement maps:
- If you are an existing Patreon Supporter ... Thankyou ...not at all expected, but please consider reviewing your tier/pledge and moving up to the next level if you want to & are able, bearing in mind that I am aiming for 1-2 (maximum of 2) maps a month this year instead of the 4 I was aiming for in the past.
- If you are not a current Patreon Supporter and you like what I am creating... please consider signing up. As a reward for your support, you will have access to the last 3 months worth of high res & unlabeled maps, variations, the Discord community and more depending on the tier you pick.
- If you do not fancy or are unable to becoming a Patreon supporter at the moment but would like to help out here and there - an occasional mention to friends who might be interested or a shout-out on social media would be very welcome.
- Or you could buy an occasional favorite map bundle on Nexus or Roll20
Meanwhile. enjoy the free versions when new maps come out
Participating with feedback and stories of how you used them is always most welcome; as well as contributing ideas for locations in upcoming maps - it helps me learn to make better maps
Lets make 2022 a year of journeying through many villages, towns and cities together :-)

I am always game for more inspiration :-) put it here if you want, or in the #map-and-plot ideas channel on discord. or DM me on discord I will certainly have space for a commission a bit later in the year, especially if it is not exclusive (so I can share it on Patreon with everyone else as well)

I’ve been toying with the idea of seeing if you have space for a commission of the city (including palace) of the d&d server me and another girl set up? It’s an interesting city as the shops and areas are already thought out but there’s no map and we have a rough idea where things are but nothing concrete. I showed the co-creator some of your work and she loved it. But if you needed inspiration for a settlement on here, would happily describe it in a bit more detail.
