Continuing with our world map, we're now moving into the second phase of world building and our second lesson: fault lines, ice caps, and ocean currents
Fault Lines: 0:01:00
Ice Caps: 0:04:15
Ocean Currents: 0:09:18
- when I pick the lesson back up after drawing all the arrows: 0:18:45
Bonus information for all you science geeks:
In Discord we discussed ocean currents and I was reminded of an experiment in Earth Science class. Well, it popped into my head again and I thought I would find instructions for it online. Here you go! Learn how the ocean currents work in your own kitchen. If you do this, please take pics and/or video and share it online tagging me in the post! I'd love to see it!
Creating Ocean Currents
Click here to visit the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to learn about how surface & deep water currents, about how the depth and temperatures affect them, as well as an interesting look at marine life who are dependent on it.
Then, once you've read the article, check out the links on the right-side of the page, especially the "ocean currents tutorial", "what causes ocean currents", "coastal observations interactive map", and pretty much everything under "Lesson Plans & Activities".
This is a fantastic resource to help determine your world's trade routes, weather, temperatures, coastal biomes, marine life, and much more.
