Terraced Farm with an Impending Doom...
🕑 Added 2020-12-29 11:04:50 +0000 UTCAt last, this one is complete... and seems like a good place to finish the year. It has taken all month to draw, in between moving, and Christmas, and other chaos... and will be the only 'patron-funded' map this month - not that we are short of maps around here, with the mega collaboration released just the other day!!
This is a huge terraced farm map with 3 small cottages on it. Drawn in a similar style to several of the maps in the recent farmland roads mini-location themed set, so that you have a bit of a set based in this type of landscape.
But then.... there is the 'Impending Doom' ... this is an idea cooked up by several folk over on my Patron-only Discord server earlier this month...
There is some sort of rot spreading out from the SW cottage... Possibly created in a secret lab in the cellar under the storage shed? This rot turns everything outside of the houses grey/red/black - starting slowly with the trees, then later, rapidly accelerating and moving on to everything, even the rocks and dust.
It does not seem to kill anything completely, just change it's colour and make any food poisonous to outsiders. Strangely, the locals seem to be particularly healthy and become more so as the horror spreads, while outsiders who come into contact with it loose health and waste away ...
I would love to hear about other plots and ideas that you come up with for this sequence :-)

Hm. Try and make taking to the air riskier i guess. Also interior maps. They just cleared out a floating fortress so they were inside a lot and they claimed it for themselves, then they got teleported briefly to the hells and fought a devil lord on an obsidian bridge. Now they are undergoing a series of trials in a ‘dream realm’ of sorts, bc two of the pc’s worship the goddess of dreams/the moon.

That makes sense. What do you like o challenge players who can fly with?

Oh i mean, its just where the game im playing is going really. Natural Terrain and natural obstacles are (at least in my experience) a bigger challenge for lower level characters, since at higher lvls players can fly over whatever they want etc. so how i try to challenge them with the environment changes
