It's an interesting point, how feudalism gave way to the nation-state in general, so the HRE gave way to France, Prussia, etc.

It's interesting to note how the political context of the HRE is intrinsically linked with the Habsburgs and how the decline in power and influence of this family led to the collapse of the HRE
