How To Keep MinuteEarth Weird and Wonderful (Featuring new Patreon perks!)
🕑 Added 2024-03-01 20:35:00 +0000 UTCHey friends!
What do YouTubers and crustaceans have in common? In this video, we use the phenomenon of “carcinization” - that is, the convergent evolution that keeps turning animals into crabs - to explain another convergence: the fact that so many YouTube videos look alike. There are outside pressures pushing YouTube videos towards a particular look and feel, and we want to resist them so we can keep making the kind of fun science explainers that make MinuteEarth MinuteEarth.
And support from Patrons like you is the main way we’re able to do that! In fact, we’re introducing a few awesome new Patreon perks in order to get folks to join up or increase their tier level:
For Patrons in the $3/month and higher tiers, we’re going to give you a monthly high resolution printable / digital download drawn in-house here at MinuteEarth that you can print right away at home to hang on your wall or use as a desktop background! Here’s what the first one will look like:

For Patrons in the $6/month and higher tiers, we’ll draw you as a personalized stick figure and send you a digital download. (Lots of you already have this one - I love your stick figures so much!) You can find the link to sign up in your Patreon welcome email.
For Patrons who sign up as annual members in the $30/month or higher tiers, you’ll be the founding members of our new MinuteEarth T-shirt club! We'll send you a new limited-edition, super soft, illustrated T-shirt every quarter (shipping fees included). Here’s what the first one will look like - Solar eclipses around the Solar System:
Thanks so much for your support!
