I wonder if Coda modified it to work with their axles, if they were different than the original car, something that would have been worked out had they built more.

Im a machinist, and (it seems weird) but ive gathered that i live quite close to the area you do filming in, if you need some custom work done i can probably help ya out, also spent several years as a mechanic before making the switch to machining. Just a thought/offer
Aging Wheels
Nope! Both wheel bearings on the parts car are in exactly the same shape. This makes it feel like some sort of glaring design flaw, but that seems rather unlikely
Are the wheel bearings any better on the parts Coda? If so, you could just swap the steering knuckles from it onto the semi-roadworthy one. Granted, you wouldn't have an excuse to play with a lathe, but as a veteran of many Ford Festiva wheel bearing ordeals, I can tell you a quick knuckle swap will save a lot of headaches in the long run.

I'm looking forward to the coda videos, whatever order they come ! Also - more on the reliant & trabant please!
You could write "This Machine Kills Wheel Bearings" on the side of that car.
Awesome! Lastly, my one and only experience with front wheel bearings (other than the old tapered roller kind) was on my brother's VW Sciroco(sp), the tigtening torqhe value was ridicoulously high, and without a proper torque wrench the only thing we could do was math= ft.lbs. We set the car on the ground for stability, socket on the nut with extension resting on jackstand, then we marked a length on the breaker bar such that one of us (of known weight) standing with one foot on the mark gave us the proper torque, more or less. If those angular contact bearings aren't tightened enough they fail prematurely. Good luck.
Aging Wheels
I promise I'll get to it before summer!
Aging Wheels
I did it. I bought a 7"x14" mini lathe off eBay. It's certainly nothing special, but it'll do the job and get me started
Agreed, most of my home tools have been acquired because I wanted to work on a project! But, We have all seen you turn down a socket to reach a certain spark plug on a certain Nissan engine, and that was just darned scarry!

You could ask a youtube machinist. Abom, this old tony,...

Do a thing on the Reliant pleaaaaaaase 🥺
I'd watch you buying a metal lathe and installing it in your shop
Aging Wheels
I am, but I won't know the size of anything until I have the entire wheel hub assembly apart again. This also might serve as a perfect excuse to buy a metal lathe
Are you still looking for machined spacer for the wheel bearing assemblies? Let me know, I have lathes and mills, both manual and CNC, in my shop and could help you out.

woooosh

I would have expected the quality of two dead cars from a dead car brand, based on ancient Mitsubishi's built in China if memory serves, to be better.

Coda, the gifts that keep on ‘giving’ (you headaches!)

Thanks for the heads up. Keep plugging along. "All Coda'ed up" LOL!

https://www.youtube.com/user/agingwheels/videos I don't see any woodworking videos on the Aging Wheels channel. You must be getting confused because you get early access to Under Dunn for free.
It's not?

I forgot this wasn’t a woodworking channel
