I wouldn't be surprised if Kick does use some of AWS's web services. It's pretty common these days to offload some compute or storage needs to Cloud providers in case there are spikes in infrastructure to ensure stability and meet demand. Also for content to be delivered at a low latency throughput throughout the country/world, it only makes sense to use a Cloud provider to test your business model. That being said, it's really dumb of Pokimane to say that 'Twitch/AWS' can just take it away if they really are using AWS, and not Azure/Google. It would set a really weird precedent to other customers using AWS's services, and to be frank, I don't think Amazon would be willing to damage their image over a streaming website.

Great vid! Just wanted to add: the “Kick pays Twitch” misconception is pretty hilarious. Twitch is owned by Amazon which owns Amazon Web Services, which is by far the largest cloud hosting company. Twitch and Kick both use AWS infrastructure, and it’s fair to assume that Twitch has some special savings plan, but so do all larger companies that use AWS. Twitch does not make a penny off Kick! Also, saying “Twitch can just turn off Kick’s service” completely ignores that these are all separate companies with separate revenue goals. We can rest assured that AWS isn’t cutting their own profits to assist Twitch because it’s losing viewership, similarly as they won’t cut Amazon.com’s bill when sales go down over a month. AWS made $80 billion in revenue last year, Twitch made $660 million. There’s no point for Amazon to compromise the former to save the latter.
