The biggest problem with malls like this today is that the rent is insane - so many smaller companies just can't afford it. The solution to saving places like this is slashing the rents by 50% or more for the first two or three years, and providing good service to each of the tenants. There's no reason why we can't save places like this. You could also turn them into a microcosm environment - stores, apartments, and schools all in the same place...I've long thought that if we renovated malls the same way so many towns are renovating their downtowns, they could be bustling once again...::sigh::
