Fairlane emphasized that a large part of choosing Meta is subjective and personal. I didn’t notice any particular put-downs of Beyonce. I admit there were many artists suggested that I scoffed it, albeit only internally. But it just helped me clarify what Meta means, to me. Let’s post our lists and celebrate . I’ve forgotten where we were gonna post! Where was that?

Haven’t watched the replay so don’t know the context. But I really appreciate your words and the time you took to write this. Thank you. I am sorry for the hurt. I appreciate your presence here.

If you can't tell... I'm highly agitated but I have work tomorrow so I'm going to bed, but while this is fresh on my heart I want to say a few things even though I know it probably won't change a single thing. Everytime Beyonce is mentioned here, it's to deflate what she's accomplished. That's the pattern... From her tickets aren't selling to she's aspirational but not meta (which is a backhanded compliment considering the records she's broken and the thousands .... probably millions of people she's inspired). I know this is Asian Entertainment & Culture so I get the goal to boost BTS and other Asian artists (whom I love), but why downplay the accomplishments of another amazing artist (that I know they also love)... It's not friendly... It's not peaceful... It's not edifying. It's also an unwillingness to learn about her and her music but then to KEEP talking about her. For my sake, you don't have to ever talk about her because everytime you do I know it's going to be a drag. Of course I guess the goal could be to make me uncomfortable and I'm just dense. One minute I make sense in our chats but when I try to explain why downplaying Beyonce AND Kendrick is actually being on the wrong side of history...now I'm doing too much. My goal with this is to say, if you are talking about ANOTHER culture, please get the information directly from the source (people within that culture). The interview you did with the music producer/expert was a good conversation and allowing him to talk about his perspective on Drake vs Kendrick was appreciated. I can only encourage similar conversations related to how Beyonce has changed the industry and why she's admired by so many. Beyonce is a celebrity to celebrities, just like BTS. There are MANY commonalities and why I love and admire them both! And I'm not saying you have to love her, but sheesh...the put downs. I want to respect everyone here but it's really hard when a disagreement erupts because some people don't want to give Beyonce her flowers but the same people would rather hype up a culture vulture. It's a wanting our rhythm but not our blues scenario and I'm being transparent...it hurts!!! This is a really serious topic and I strongly encourage the viewing and analysis of Sinners to understand the deeper message there (because it relates here). Same with Cowboy Carter ..song for song for song! I also encourage exploring other cultures THROUGH the lens of people within that culture. I apologize to whomever I've offended but I'm honestly really really really sad about this. Gn
