From what I understand, Japan has the 2nd biggest music market in the world, so it's beneficial for Korean artists to do Japanese versions of their songs when they're starting out. It helps to expand their fan base. Same reason they would do English versions, to reach out to that larger market. On the other hand, Korea isn't that large a market, so doing a Korean language version of a song isn't going to make financial sense for the Japanese or Western artists, in terms of money and number of fans. And Japan, while the second largest, isn't as nearly as big as the Western market. Basically, western artists don't do Japanese or Korean language versions of songs because they don't have to.

This is perhaps off the topic, I was curious why BTS & Korean musicians produce their songs in Japanese for the Japanese market… My question is if this regulation is from Japan. I was guessing that Japan music market set a certain criteria for Koreans to sing their songs in Japanese in order to promote their music in Japan ?!? I don’t see Japanese artists sing in Korean to promote in Korea or western artists are singing in Japanese for Japanese market… If someone knows the answer to my question, I would appreciate it 💜
