About Devil Fruit classification. Don't worry about it. Types are quite arbitrary. Like animals are it's own group but then Paramecia has bunch of incoherent conflicting stuff. The only thing you really need to know is some are more wacky strong while others are sheer power strong. But in short : Zoan is zoo, Logia can be split, Paramecia is when 'unless'.

Logia turns your body into an element basically, so your body is not really physical. = Enel, Enel can literally become Lightning and can't be hit by physical attacks because he is Lightning. Paramecia basically just changes your physical body. = Luffy, is just Rubber so he can still be hit, but physical body changed to rubber. Zoan gives you the ability to tranform into Animals. = Chopper. You have to learn Devil Fruit abilities, if you remember from early in the Anime, the Luffy Shanks flash back. When Shanks grabbed Luffy by the legs so that he would spit out the Devil Fruit, Luffy's legs just stretched and he smashed his head on the floor. So Luffy bascially didn't had full control over his Powers back then. Saying more would result in Spoilers.
