Though a work may appear to be different that its companions it may in fact be more closely related than one thinks. Yet just because the materials are the same the approach toward treating them may require a bespoke solution. What is different and what is the same? Knowing the fine balance between the two makes all the difference.

I'm curious about why replacing the stretcher isn't considered overreach given that it's part of the artist's original work and might be indicative of provenance or other history. Not questioning your decision--genuinely seeking to understand.
