And while the state of these works is desperate all hope is not lost; something can be done. It may be unreasonable to expect that the painting would look new or as if no damage had occurred but it is perfectly sound to expect that it can be salvaged.

Thank you Julian. This restoration was so moving…I finally became a Patreon member! The amount of skinning and overpainting was heartbreaking, but I could not imagine it being in better hands!
What's the difference between provenance and the work/theories/storytelling that yourself and the owner of the paintings?
