I had so much fun with this, and even though I technically did a bookish theme before with Novel Niceties, that one was kind of more about story-telling in general, I suppose. And considering that I've been really trying to get back into reading more, this felt really fitting! You might recognize some of the titles as well because I also asked you lovely folks for some punny title ideas in the Community Chat, so in case you ever wondered what it's for and whether you should join, maybe this will convince you...?! 😅
I also tried to go for some (hopefully) universal experiences with the library, and of course, who doesn't think of Belle's library ladder?? Iconic. Between you and me, the desk bun was supposed to be holding one of those date stamps for old-school checkout cards, but alas, it was too much detail and at the size these are, it wouldn't have shown up very well. I'm already worried the titles might be too small...but hey, we know they're there, and that's what matters, right?!
This forecast is going to be a lot shorter because I'll be honest, I am so not on top of things right now... But maybe that's not necessarily a bad thing. It lets me be flexible after all, and I don't get to beat myself up (too hard) for not doing what I said I'd get done. That said, I do still need to have some semblance of a plan, so here we go!
I currently have two video scripts on the go, but one of them is on pause because it's turning out to be much chonkier than I'd expected...so that one will have to come later. But the current one I'm working on is another Art & Ruminations voice-over that I hope will be interesting, even just a little bit. That will likely be posted in the next week or so, and of course, you Shining Stars will get early access to it! I also have been a bit stuck on topics for me to ramble on, so please please let me know if there are any art-y or art-adjacent things you'd like me to do a longwinded video about in the future!
Last month, I started planting the seeds of getting back into doing more art things locally. While one of the events I had planned turned out to be a bust (pro tip: don't plan outdoor things, like BBQs or urban sketch groups, in the UK 🥲), I'm taking that failure as a learning opportunity and continuing anyway. Can't just give up after one try, y'know? So we'll see. I'm still also figuring out workshop ideas as well, but I'll really need to buckle down and get that done. It'll be next-highest priority, after releasing the next video.
I'm sure you've all seen as well that I started a newsletter of sorts! Thank you so much to everybody for the outpouring of support of the new Total Tangent Times! I had been thinking about a newsletter for so damn long, and now that it's finally happened...well, I don't know if I have time to unpack all of that here lol. Suffice it to say, I really appreciate you all for the warm reception, and hope you continue to enjoy it! If you want to share any of them with others, please do! As always, thank you so much for being here and for supporting me. I know times are hard for many of us. While I try not to talk too much about my own financial struggles because I know I'm still in a much more privileged position than many others...it'd be disingenuous of me to say that I'm doing perfectly fine, because I'm not. I'm struggling, as I'm sure many of you are as well. Despite this, or rather resultant from this, I appreciate each and every one of you all the more for doing what you can to help me continue making a living with my art. And not just me, but all of our fellow humans. I may be a cynical and often pessimistic person, but it's knowing that there are wonderful people like you still out there doing good that keeps me going.
Thank you for being, and thank you for helping others to be as well. 💖
