Volpiko, the Spirit Cleric

There are some things she’s always known. She knows that she’s a spirit. She knows that she manifests in places and times that people need some sort of guidance. She knows that, each time she’s “reborn,” her memory starts over. She also knows she has never been anywhere for any longer than a decade.
But she manifested in Latehaven 258 years ago.
Volpiko quickly found the intended subject of her duty in Muka, for whom she felt a divine compulsion to help. But after they saved her loved one, Volpiko didn’t fade into the ether like she expected. So she went on another quest with Muka. And another. And several more. But Volpiko never felt the familiar, mystical feeling of fulfillment that indicates she carried out her duty.
After several years, Volpiko began seeking guidance of her own in Latehaven. But every Latehavenite she spoke to (which, after over 250 years, is all of them) conceded that their expertise is strictly in the dead, which Volpiko was not, because she had never lived on the prime material plane in the realm’s conventional sense. She wasn’t disliked, by any means, just confusing for people.
So she remained confused herself, building a small afterlife in Latehaven for herself with her best friend Muka. But recently, Volpiko felt a familiar tug when they met a man who loudly introduced—no, declared himself to them as Mister Sakai.
