Annoyed me a bit that he tried to stop Arin so hard. Bro, he ain't making you die on a hill. Sit and wait while we hear Arin's feelings about watches, we KNOW you're not fighting him and you're just kind of nodding while he says you're wrong, with great passion. I didn't expect Dan to rebut or anything, I assumed Arin was the only one who cared. But then Dan cared way too much about making Arin stop talking. In the end, i liked what he said about getting away from his phone with an MP3 player, it was interesting. EDIT: And, later, there's some more good-natured talking about what Arin was saying, so alright, maybe it was just a weird point of sudden tension for Dan that he was fine about in ten minutes.

Arin, thank you. Even if you said all this last year, it's 2025, why should we rely on one device? A single point of failure that catastrophic is baffling that we allow to exist in our lives for the sake of "convenience". We already got rid of pocket watches once upon a time in favor of wrist watches, and now the pocket watch is even bigger and runs out of power quickly. Why do we allow this to happen to ourselves? I wanted this argument to happen so badly you have no idea I was ready to hear either the single point of failure or the pocket watch argument.

It's the same reason we don't carry calculators. Everything is on the phone which makes things easier and more convenient. When I was in school I was the only one with a watch and made fun of for it

Remember when pocket watches were the only portable method of precise timekeeping on-the-go? People had to reach into their pocket, grab their pocket watch, pull it out, look at the time, then put it back in their pocket. Then clockmakers and manufacturing in general got good enough to shrink clock components down even further, and they could make watches small enough to strap to your wrist, and it was considered a huge advancement! Just a quick glance at your wrist, that's it. So much better! Pretty much everyone stopped using pocket watches. So to suggest that people should not be wearing watches because they have a phone in their pocket is WILD to me. I was just as utterly baffled as Arin when Dan asked why he had a digital watch, "it's 2024..." Like, what?????? I didn't even realize at first that he was suggesting Arin should look at his phone instead, I had NO idea what he meant by that. Look how much I've pointlessly typed about this, I don't think I can get over it. I'm a changed man now. I miss the man I used to be, a man who didn't fight for wrist watch justice.
