Correct! The game does say you have to grab the shopping list items to Beat the Spree.

Played the game .. definitely need to read the manual... After a very sharp learner's curve I got the hang of it.. HOWEVER... When I finished the shopping spree, because I didn't grab the Shopping List items, the total came to $0, even though I emptied my cart several times and even got the inflatable donut... Unless I didn't do something correctly... But the music and graphics are a great throwback!
