I agree with you that this direction for the series is much better from a character standpoint - and the interactions with DC early on are given more breathing room and depth. I would say that your first iteration of Going Native was actually very good - it was a space opera and enjoyable all the way through. The elements from the Green Lantern comics blended really nicely with the DBZ elements. The problem came in the Sequel Story "Gone Native", when you had that character, who had essentially been broken by the war, interact with the Earth Heroes . After the first battle, it was clear you really didn't have much left in the tank to work with that character. As you say, he was too depressing to realistically interact with Earth Heroes without endless conflict - and it didn't blend with their pacificism and optimism well. It was clear that Gone Native ran out of steam pretty quickly from a character standpoint. Restarting with a more hopeful Tarble who doesn't just immediately resort to genocide because everyone around him is doing it, is the way to go. Definitely excited for this to be back!
