It’s Monday! Neat! New build, too. Sorry it’s only for Quest 2, but I’ll have new stuff for other platforms, soon <3
No video this week so I can get an extra day of production. I’m going to need it. I’ll get caught up on emails tomorrow thanks for your patience <3
I didn’t get everything done I wanted to last week as it took WAAAY longer than I thought it would to get the pony to cooperate, and it’s still not cooperating as much as I wanted it too. I estimated it would take 1 day and it took 3. Looks pretty good, though it needs a little more work to function as well as the rabbit and mouse do Pony pony pony!
In the remaining time during the week I worked on a variety of things including AI stuff. The characters now change their pose when they think you’re having sex with them from behind or in front, which is pretty neat. Every little thing the AI does helps a lot so more reactive behaviors will just make it better.
To break up the day during the week I worked on my 3D printer enclosure design and started assembling it. When it's done I'll release under a CC license all the plans and bracket 3D files I designed should you want to make the same one. It's probably my favorite design for a large format 3D printer. Parts I ordered arrive tomorrow, so I might have it assembled next Monday. Transparent plastics are difficult to get these days thanks to stupid Covid. I know that’s not very exciting but I’m looking forward to having it here. In any case if you’d like an official Besti toy set I’ll need this to be able to make them so it’s moving toward that.
Tasks this week I’ll be working on are:
- Design and release a Quest 1 Besti Toy
- Write the non-portable friend interaction system for eqCy
- Port the cuter face designs I made for Besti LF to Besti 9 as character options
- Write the hinging opening type of entrance (mouthes or something else if you’re really creative) for Besti X friends
Let’s do it! Here’s the full changelog for the new build today:
Besti LF 1.3
- Quadrupedal Pony character added. After the great pony war and the loss of magic across the land, this unicorn decided to leave her home to visit far away lands in search of friendship.
- Added a penis size helper in the menus. When you change your penis radius in the menus, it gives you an example penis so you can more easily size it to yourself. It stays around for 5 seconds and then disappears.
- Disabled shadowcasting on the penetration helper penis to help you align toys. That was an oversight.
- Hid the hip size option until it does something useful. This is for non AR applications.
- Reduced CPU overhead in many ways. Some ways are by changing the scanning interval of some of the sensors, and some ways are by optimizing how computations work. It's already running well on Quest 2, but I wanted more headroom for Quest 1. I didn't do testing on this but I'm guessing 5-10% reduced CPU use.
- Reduced GPU overhead by changing how graphics are drawn to the screen and implementing a few more features built into the Oculus SDK. Minor improvements but another 5-10% reduced GPU. Same reason as the CPU improvements.
- Moved all sensor packages into a single system. Easier to program and manage in my head.
- Added an AI function to detect if you're attempting to have sex with the character from in front or behind, which in turn triggers her to change her pose to be more compatible with that. This uses the new sensor package.
- Improved the sensors for portable quadrupedal characters who stand differently than they are in sexual contexts, which in turn changes what the concept of "Forward" is. Characters can now use a different conceptual forward depending on what they're doing.
- Made a Besti X compatible (and Blender 2.9 compatible!) pony character. This is basically the Besti 9 horse character but with some minor improvements to how the eyes work, and a cuter nose.
KNOWN ISSUES:
If you lose sight of the remote after it's been bound to a pony, the pony may sometimes explode. I don't know why but I’m working on it.
"Did you put her on there?"
"...maaayyybeeee?"
"...maaayyybeeee?"
