Hi Everyone!
It’s Monday! No patches on the server today but I made progress on a bunch of stuff last week. Lots of emails needing a reply last week (230, took me to Friday afternoon to answer them) but there was a lot of really good feedback so thanks for sending in your opinions and ideas.
On the topic of feedback, there were quite a few requests for quadrupedal avatars that you use from a first person perspective. The way I’ve programmed it is to select a sensible location based on the character’s metadata (in the head or on the back.) The rationale behind that decision was that in real life you move very differently than a quadruped, and being first-person on a quadruped would be a less immersive experience with your body behind you rather than under you. That said, I got enough of a request barrage from people who want to first-person with a quadruped body that we can do that. I’ll work on setting placement as first person or a riding position when you capture an NPC when I work on the interface for that this week. See! Requesting stuff makes a difference <3
I did get some work done over the weekend in that I worked on the interaction system more. One of the goals of making eqCy was to improve the Besti Toy interaction in Besti X, so I started that process. That has a couple ideas to it, namely:
- Faster and more intuitive physical calibration in VR.
- Connectivity to robotic sex toys.
For faster and more intuitive physical calibration it comes down to a combination of arbitrary calibration angles (in contrast to Besti 9’s fixed calibration angles based on what you’re doing), and visual aids in 3D space (in contrast to Besti 9’s written instructions, this should visually tell you what is going on.) Working on it.
On the topic of robotic sex toys, I’m a little dubious on this concept, but I have 3 production samples of robot toys on the way right now so we can figure out if this is worth working on. They always seem like too much trouble to set up/use or too expensive to be appealing to all but a small niche group, but the newest stuff seems to be making a lot of bold capability claims at a not-at-all bold pricetag (around $50 bulk cost on my end.) If they work like they say they work I’ll be thrilled but I have my doubts because they’re just so cheap for what they claim to do. Regardless, making it work for folks with niche setups has always been an objective with the Besti toy update, but if there are mainstream possibilities available now I want to look into it. We’ll see when they get here (2 to 4 weeks.)
Anyway! That’s it for last week. Sorry it’s not super exciting/showoff stuff but I only had 2 production days. This week I’m starting off caught up on emails so I’ll get behind on those this week so I can get lots of production done <3 Should have something worth showing next Monday!
