DBD December Contest!
🕑 Added 2021-12-01 15:21:35 +0000 UTCIf you've seen the recent Dragon Ball Dissection videos, you know we're doing another contest for the month of December! This time it's for a copy of Akira Toriyama's Manga Theater, a massive, 600+ page, hardcover compilation of Toriyama's one-shot manga. As you can see, I'm showing a promotional photo rather than one I have taken myself. That's because it hasn't been released yet. It comes out next week. While these three volumes have circulated in Japan for quite a long time (they're literally referenced in Q&As in the original Dragon Ball manga), this is the first time they're finally making their way into an official English release, combined into a single book. I have this pre-ordered, and I cannot wait to get my hands on my own copy. The original Japanese releases include, among many other gems, Toriyama's two different Dragon Ball prototypes, Dragon Boy and The Adventure of Tongpoo. That alone makes it a must-have on any DB fan's shelf. And to thank you all for everything you do, I'm awarding a copy to a clever patron!
So how do you win this? Well, you remember good old Bardock. Or Burdock. Whatever you prefer. I've talked about him a lot, and he's been a lot of things: a tragic anti-hero, a time-traveling legendary savior, a time-traveling other thing, and all kinds of other crazy roles. I keep hoping he will never come back so he won't have to face the indignity of being further ruined. So now... I want you to come up with the next indignity Bardock will face in order to further ruin him. Give me your best pitch of how Bardock will be screwed up next time he re-enters the story. And just to make it brief and fair to everybody, let's keep the same rules as last time:
*Present it to me as one of those two-part DBZ movie titles. As in, “Bardock Sucks in This Way I'm Describing! Now I'm Explaining It in Further Detail!”
*This contest is open to all December patrons.
*Contest entries will only be accepted if they are submitted as a comment on this post. They will not be accepted as a YouTube comment, a direct message, or a response to any other Patreon post.
*Your two-part "movie title" is your entire submission. You get those two sentences to pitch your idea. No more, no less.
*Each person can only submit one entry. Your first submission is your entry, so think carefully.
*Entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm EST, December 31st.
*After that, I will choose five finalists, from which patrons will vote for a winner, in a poll I will post here on Patreon. The finalist with the most votes wins the book!
*Obviously, that means the contest will conclude in January. Ensuring all five videos are finished on time this month is my top priority, so I felt it was safer to focus on choosing these after I was safely done with that. Whether or not you continue to be a patron in January will in no way affect your eligibility to become a finalist, only whether you'll be present to see the voting. I will send a message through Patreon to notify the winner directly.

here's my unfunny contest entry: The Solitary Final Absolute Fight Against Unemployment, The Saiyan Warrior, John Burdock's Quest to Become Assistant Manager at T.G.I. McVegeta's Takes place just after Raditz was born, Bardock's job of genocide doesn't put enough Saiyabux on the table to feed his family, so Gine threatens him with no more babies until he applies for a job at their local T.G.I McVegeta's (which is like an unholy combination of TGI Friday's, McDonald's and a little bit of Applebees thrown in the mix. He gets the job, but it pays even shittier than it does to subjugate planets, so he strives to be the best employee, mopping up all the vomit in the bathroom, and singing Happy Birthday EVERY shift until his employment credit level rises to 20,000, thus making him eligible to become the assistant manager. Also he changes his name to John Burdock for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
