An update on the status of things
🕑 Added 2024-02-09 04:44:39 +0000 UTCAlright, so the plan was to just spend a month resting and doing a bit of writing, but now it's two months, and I haven't released a single chapter, so… what happened?
In essence, I made writing every day into a habit, but once I dropped it completely for a while, it became really hard to get it back. Also, a lot of things happened while I was resting as I finally had time to do so much stuff that I wanted but kept postponing due to being too busy, and this kept me distracted for a while.
I'm healthier now, both mentally and physically. Streaming is wonderful for my mind, it's just that it does reduce the time I have left for writing, but I think that it's a good thing in the end. It's just not profitable, which brings us to the next point.
I spent two months without gaining a single dollar. I got a small payment of 50$ from Twitch, but this is from multiple months of streaming, so I had to tap a bit into my savings. I still have money, but I can't really spend a third month like this, so I ask for a bit of patience and support as I force myself to get back into gear.
Yeah, money is something I don't like to mention, but I need to be real, the current way of things isn't viable for me as the story only gets longer and the number of potential patrons shrinks, so I need to go back more often and continue doing the early chapter review while also trying to expand the number of sites I publish my stories to. This means even less time for writing Rupegia, and I'm not sure how I'll balance things moving forward, but I do need to properly split my focus.
As for the immediate future, I'm having trouble forcing myself to publish things. I have one chapter of Heretical Magus ready while over 16k+ words of Rupegia need to be reviewed and published, so I haven't stopped writing, it's just the not-fun part of writing that I need to get used to doing again. Adding to that, my sister came back from Canada with her husband and nieces, so this week is still quite busy, but I hope next week will be calmer, and then I'll have more mental energy to push myself back into work mode properly.
I'm eager to continue creating, I just need to focus on the things that matter a bit better. I know my weak spots, but I have someone helping me patch them up and keep my head straight, so I'm looking up to the future.
