A little stuff
🕑 Added 2025-10-13 19:49:48 +0000 UTCStarted working on comms again as tomorrow is a big cha-ching day (time to pay for 2 kittens hospitalization and a surgery)
Context (TW sad kitten event)
My parents live on a farm, and naturally, they got cats. 2 cats gave birth a week apart and my mom placed all the kittens together (thinking the cats would just take turns nursing all of them, which to be fair to her, has happened A LOT in our experience). But the cat with the younger litter abandoned them after that. I’ve only found out about it a couple days ago, when mom remembered to mention that only one cat has been nursing ALL of the 13 kittens, asking me to buy and bring formula to help her.
4 of the younger litter got killed by one of the dogs before i even found out about it all, and by the time i got home, a 5th one was in horrible shape (similar to fading kitten syndrome). I decided to take all of them back to my place and nurse them myself, but before we got home, the weak one has died as well..
Basically, they have been malnourished, being younder and considerably smaller than the older litter, plus the fact that its been so many of them, they got pushed aside and have been living on barely any scraps.
Last 2 babies, Cheeto and Cheese, seemed better, happy to eat, purring, making biscuits and even trying to play despite being barely over 2 weeks, but still, skin and bones. I have also noticed that Cheese’s leg didnt look right and it turned out he has fractured his femur. Last night they all of a sudden crashed, and we had to rush them to the emergency room. They were lethargic, cold, barely moving. They got hypothermia (while the ideal temperature for a kitten would be 38 degrees C, cheeto’s was 36, and Cheese’s was not even detectable, which meant it was bellow 33). They pulled through, and today Cheese also went though the leg surgery, and thankfully, it all went great, despite his poor state, he’s a very strong boy~💕
They’ll be under observation untill tommorow, and then ill be back to nursing them. I know this has been a sad story, and i hate to be a downer, but I cant help but cling onto the little bit of good in it, I am all in and determined to do everything in my power to make sure they’ll grow up and thrive!
If it all goes well, in a few weeks I’ll be able to start looking for loving homes for them, so wish us luck!~🫶
