People around...
"Why……"
Who was Meow Chan? Why should I be careful of people around me? Weren’t they just NPCs?
Meow Chan ignored me, and as if it had lost its soul, it just stood motionless at the door of my house no matter how much I shook it.
I felt helpless. I was trapped alone inside this game.
No, it was impossible, I wouldn’t be trapped here, it must be a program error. I just needed to wait until the game company or my roommate found out my situation and save me! But... my roommate was out for a trip!
I had to find a way to inform someone else and help me take off the helmet!
I was almost trembling all over now.
‘I have been playing continuously for 24 hours. It would be life-threatening if I don’t log out from the game soon…’
‘Ying... That’s right. There is also Ying. She will definitely help me, right?’
"Classmate Gaocheng, what happened? Why did you come so late today?”
Great! As expected, she was on the cherry blossom road!
"Ying, listen to me, I am in a very dangerous situation now. It is difficult for me to explain clearly, but I hope you can help me."
I grabbed Ying's hand, and now the only thing I could rely on was her as the heroine of the game!
"Don't... don't worry, Yuan, calm down first!"
"No, I can't calm down now! Listen, I'm trapped in this world, do you know how I can leave this place?..."
"Did you just say you want to leave...?"
I was eager to log out from this, so I didn't notice the abnormality in her tone.
"This is not the point, the point is that I want to know how to leave the game. If I don't leave, my life will be in danger!"
"But, you said that you will be with me forever, Yuan..."
"I, I will always be with you, but I have to leave the game to eat now."
"2892315 times… all of you always leave me like this."
Suddenly I realized that Ying actually understood what I meant just now without any problem... This was not right, how could... How could she as an AI understand what this meant? ? ?
"Wh... what?"
"Look, the cherry blossoms all withered away."
"You……"
I couldn’t figure out her words at all.
"But next year it will bloom again, repeating like this."
"Hehehe, it's so ridiculous. Are the cherry blossoms really willing to bloom, wither, bloom, and wither like this again and again?"
Ying shook my hands off and smiled creepily. Her smile had completely lost her usual gentleness...
"Hahahahahahahaha!"
Her smile became more and more exaggerated, she almost burst into tears.
Watching her laughing so strangely and crazily, I was completely stunned.
"I said, whether it's cherry blossoms or humans, doing the same thing over and over again, you will get bored, right?"
Humans… bored… What was she talking about?
She stopped her trembling body suddenly, and then said to me with a serious expression——
"Yuan, don't leave, don't go to any big city, stay with me in this town forever."
Not a question, but a statement. She seemed to be saying a certain thing.
"What's going on with you...?"
The Ying who was currently standing in front of me has brought me a deep fear. She may no longer be the person I know.
'You actually still remember what I said so long ago. '
'Will Classmate Gaocheng stay here forever? '
'Maybe... I will find a job in a big city and live a busy life! '
I remembered it! On the fifth day, I actually said that I wanted to leave this place and go to a big city! At that time, in order to stop AI from calculating, I changed the subject quickly.
Then that night I told Minghai Lily that Shuiyuan Weina came to the game club at noon, and this meant that the two heroines had an intersection, which directly led to the game's GAME OVER pop-up...
Since then, I kept reloading the save back to [the fifth day], but never said the same thing again.
"You, who are you? You are not Yuchuan Ying."
The person in front of me was definitely not the Ying I was familiar with.
I quickly stepped back a few steps to get away from her.
"Yuan, how can you say that, I am your girlfriend Ying... Don't you... Don't you remember it Yuan?"
"If you are Yuchuan Ying, you should be just a game character! Why do you still have memories after I reload the game? I obviously didn't say anything about big cities after that!”
"Yuan, what are you talking about... Reload, memory or something, I don't understand... Next time, don't just touch other girls' breasts, you already have me."
She... really remembered! This message finally confirmed that she still had the memory even after I reloaded the game.
"Don't be kidding! Although I said a long time ago that I would go to a big city. I have already restarted the game, so you shouldn’t be able to remember anything!”
"Oops, you got me~"
"So, who the hell are you?!"
My head seemed to be smashed by a hammer, and my world seemed to be spinning around... Was the reason why I was not able to log out related to...
"I've said it many times, I'm Yuchuan Ying, your girlfriend~"
"You...you must be the one sent by the game company to prank me, right? If so, hurry up and apologize, or I will sue you when I go back!"
The only thing I could think of now was that this was some kind of prank. If this was the case, then they were really terrible people!
Although Ying looked exactly the same as usual, what she said was very strange.
"Game company...? Are you talking about the people who made this world? Sure enough, in your eyes this is just the world in a game, and I am just a game character... Therefore, you will not hesitate to abandon me, right?"
"You, what are you talking about? Don't lie to me! If it's a prank, end it now!"
"This is not a prank, and it will not end. Yuan will stay forever, Yuan will be with me forever~"
"No... this will definitely end! Hurry up and end this prank! Did you hear that! I will die if it doesn't end!"
I yelled to the sky, hoping that the "game company personnel" who watched me in the real world could end this prank as soon as possible.
"Yuan, it's useless... There are only two of us here, it is literally the world for a couple!"
"Just ignore me, I am talking to myself!"
In a hurry, I said this ’instruction'. Normally after saying this sentence, AI would stop the current topic...
"What are you talking about, Yuan? You can’t change the topic like that?"
"Impossible, even this sentence doesn't work anymore. No, you must be dressed up by another player? Someone must be watching, maybe you will broadcast it to the whole world?!"
I was so angry. Why would I encounter such a thing when playing a dating simulation game?
I shouldn’t have listened to Waning Moon's advice in the first place. Maybe Waning Moon was with them! Sure enough, I shouldn’t have believed the stranger who I had only met for a few days!
"Yuan... You just thought of me as someone else right? You don't want to ask me how I feel, and why I would do this?"
“……”
"You are the same as the 2,892,314 people before. You clearly promised to be with me forever, but in the end you all left me one by one, leaving me alone in reincarnation..."
2892314...Reincarnation...I seem to understand something...
Could it be...
"You remember what happened with every player..."
"What is a player? But I do remember everything."
This... Ying could have such an ability? How could it be? This was obviously just a very simple game with weak logic. Many plots were forced. How could the AI
in this game have this ability...
"I can't leave the game because of you?"
"Yuan, you promised that you won't leave me. Why do you want to leave me now? In this way, you will only belong to me..."
"You are the AI
of this game, but you are self-aware, right?"
I finally calmed down a bit. Although the Ying in front of me was different from usual, it still seemed reasonable.
My body was already in danger, and Meow Chan, who seemed to know the situation, was not responding. Now that I knew that Ying was the culprit who trapped me hre, I could only try to convince her.
"Are you talking about video games?...How could it be possible? I am obviously a real person!"
Real person? Did she not know that she was just an AI and had self-awareness?
——No wonder, this game was not a online game. Although the game files were stored in the cloud, Ying, as a game character, probably had not been in contact with the outside world since she was born... It was normal to not understand this information.
Thinking of this, there was another trace of sympathy in my heart...
She trapped me just to let me stay here forever with her.
She must understand that we were different beings, and I could not stay here forever.
“I’ve never heard that game characters would have self-awareness before, and you may be the first one. The teacher of the introduction to artificial intelligence has said that an important feature of artificial intelligence is the ability to 'learn'. And this learning ability comes from AI's continuous improvement of its own code during the game. Maybe you made a mistake in the process of 'learning', so you have 'self-awareness'..."
"Yuan, I don't understand what you are talking about at all, but I can experience some of the so-called 'learning'. It is probably like the accumulation of 'memory' and the change of 'character'?... I have always been puzzled by why I am different from others and know the existence of ‘reincarnation’. Although I tried to ask other people, they all just shook their heads blankly, thinking that I was crazy… They don’t know the existence of “reincarnation”, they will lose the memory of reincarnation every time the “reincarnation” ended; but for me, at the end of the “reincarnation” I only feel “headache”... sometimes , I will also receive memories from other reincarnations that I don’t know..."
Ying’s tone has changed, she did not seem to be the kind of soft girl before, but now she seemed to be becoming more and more frightening to me... It felt like a kitten I was familiar with suddenly became a lion one day and leaped towards me...
"However, I have found a way to be with Yuan forever, which is great~"
She stretched out her hands to me--
"It's time for class, let's go together~"
"Ying... you have to know that the current world is just a virtual game world for me. The life monitoring program has been warning me that if I continue to stay here, my body will be in danger and even die."
"Virtual world? Yuan is lying to me, right?"
It seemed that I had to show her some evidence...
"Then, Ying, have you tried to leave this town? Do you know what the world outside this town looks like?"
"I... Of course I know what the outside looks like, and I just moved from outside to this town two weeks ago, why do I need to leave here again?"
Those were just your character settings, these two weeks were all of your life. It was too cruel to say those things, and it may further anger her, so I couldn’t tell her those things.
"Let me leave, please. Ying. Even if I leave, it is only a moment for you, and I will be back immediately."
According to my guess, the game process should be paused when the player leaves the game.
"...No, it took me a lot of effort to prevent this world from 'reincarnation'. If Yuan leaves here, this place will soon enter a new cycle... Then I will never be able to see Yuan again."
"Why must it be me..."
Was there no way to convince Ying?...
"I, I can't stand this endless cycle anymore. Didn't I tell Yuan already? I hate the constant moving and the constant separation from friends. I finally decided once, no matter who I meet next time. I will keep him forever..."
"What did you just say..."
"Yeah, it doesn't matter who it is, I just want someone to accompany me."
In other words, it was not because of me. It just happened to be me...
"Those people before, their actions seemed to be very purposeful, as if they knew the ending in advance and did what they could to choose the most correct choice."
Was she talking about previous players? This was also normal. Many people chose to know the strategy in advance to save time.
"But you are different from them. Even if Yuan has failed so many times, Yuan did not give up. Many people just disappeared in the middle. But Yuan is different. You have done a lot of actions that they did not do, and you really wanted to help me."
This was because I was completely new to this type of game!
"Yuan, you said that he would stay with me, right?"
When I said that, I didn't expect that things would turn out to be like this, otherwise I wouldn't make such a promise!
"No, Ying, if you really like me, you don’t want to see me die, right? ..."
"So, do you have to leave here?"
"I must leave! But I—"
I reached out to her--
"Shiyuan Xing, hanging in there, the cracking process is almost complete!"
A female voice I have never heard appeared behind me! Could it be the staff of the game company who came to save me——
No, only a white thing came running behind me. Wasn't that white thing Meow Chan? The sound came from Meow Chan’s mouth? ! It finally moved again!
Wait a second... Why could a cat talk? ? ? Also, how did it know my real name?
"Hehe... you really want to abandon me. It has been 2892315 times since I can remember. Every time they promised to be together with me but they finally abandoned me… Hehehehe——"
She started to raise her head and laugh madly, and then glaring at me-
"Unforgivable..."
"Ying, listen to me..."
"Unforgivable."
"Ying!"
"Unforgivable!"
"Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Unforgivable!"
Like a disintegration of personality, Ying's face began to twist and became hysterical.
