The wailing of the wolf king came from mid-air, and the bullets of the Pupils of Blazing Flames all hit the target without a miss.
Lynn also moved quickly when her vision recovered.
The pale golden long sword returned to floating golden particles, and then gathered in Lynn's hands again to form two swords with a length of about one meter.
Lynn held a sword in each hand, quickly approached one of the fire wolves whose vision had not been restored, and stabbed one of the swords into its body.
Two fire wolves leaped high behind her at the same time, trying to gain an advantage from above. Lynn lowered her body a little, and when the two fire wolves jumped over her head, she quickly swiped the other sword horizontally.
The two poor wolves lost their lives in mid-air and fell in front of Lynn.
On Aker's side, he could kill a fire wolf with every bullet the Pupils of The Blazing Flames. Gradually, the wolves only dared to surround him, but did not dare to move forward.
If the fire wolf didn't pounce on him, Aker wouldn't shoot, so the two sides stayed in a stalemate at the moment.
"That guy... Is he still thinking about showing mercy to his enemies at this time?"
If Aker was being soft-hearted at other times, Lynn would not complain anything. But at this time, being soft-hearted was simply a foolish move.
There was not only one fire wolf's lair in this deep forest. The battle between them must have been felt by the fire wolves in other lairs, and they were all gathering towards this place now.
In other words, the reason why these fire wolves only trapped Aker and didn't pounce on him was that they were just waiting for the arrival of their partners. But Aker, who lacked wild survival experience, did not realize this.
Just when Lynn turned to help Aker, a few more fire wolves sneaked behind her from behind.
At this time, Lynn's attention was completely placed on Aker's side, not even noticing the approach of danger.
Loulou, who was hiding in a safe zone watching the battle, could look across the entire battlefield, and after noticing the danger approaching Lynn, she immediately called out in a voice that would expose herself.
"Elder Sister Lynn, be careful! Behind you!"
Lynn didn't react immediately for a while, but Aker immediately noticed Loulou's warning, so he broke the current deadlock without hesitation.
The untargeted magic burst took away the lives of several fire wolves in an instant, breaking the encirclement of fire wolves. He rushed to Lynn in a straight line, hugged her waist, and pressed the trigger with the other hand at the fire wolf that was pouncing at Lynn from behind.
But the remaining fire wolf had already approached in front of him, swinging its sharp claws.
At this moment, Aker had only one pistol, and it was too late to fire a second shot, so he could only hold Lynn in his arms while using his back to block the attack.
The sharp claws tore open Aker's white trench coat, and the whiteness gradually became bright red.
The death of the Wolf King and his companions did not frighten them, but instead aroused their bloodthirsty nature.
"Elder Brother!"
Seeing that Aker was injured, Loulou rushed over, wanting to heal Aker.
"Don't come here! Protect yourself!"
"But..."
Loulou immediately stopped. Being able to understand the situation in a short period of time was her advantage, but she still couldn't stand Aker and Lynn being injured by the wolves.
"I'll be able to get rid of this problem soon, you just need to stand there and watch!"
Aker warned Loulou harshly, but this may be another representation of his care for Loulou.
Big beads of sweat slid across his forehead. Now it was very difficult for him to hold Lynn and continue to stand. He was losing blood from the would on his back. The situation didn't look good. This was the first time that Aker had suffered such a serious injury.
Although Loulou did not insist on wanting to heal Aker, she was also very aware of the pain after suffering from such an injury.
Lynn's hand was resting on Aker's back, and the nasty sticky feeling was passed to her brain through her fingertips.
Lynn's head suddenly became blank.
"I... am saved by other people again..."
Faces and images flashed through her mind.
Her father, her mother, her sister...people she knew, people she didn't know... everyone sacrificed themselves to protect her, protected her who was still immature.
Because of her, those who cared about her were injured and even killed one after another.
Despite being protected by everyone using such a heavy price, she still couldn't make a step forward, and she was still that weak.
Lynn's body trembled more and more obviously, and her eyes gradually lost focus. Compared with the fire wolves that have not retreated around, Aker was more worried about Lynn in his arms.
"Lynn! We can definitely escape! Don't give up!"
Aker's shout pulled Lynn back to reality.
Looking at Aker, who was still shielding herself despite his body trembling involuntarily because of the pain, Lynn only felt that her eyes teared up. She quickly buried her face in Aker's chest.
"Hey! It's still dangerous now! Stop crying!"
"I'm not crying! I'm not... Aker, you idiot!"
Lynn pounded Aker's chest vigorously, but the beating that could not cause pain was just like her throwing a tantrum.
Then Lynn waved her hand after venting her feelings. The two swords inserted in the ground shattered into golden particles, but they did not disappear, nor did they form the shape of a long sword.
The golden particles gradually gathered together, and then melted together, turning into a dazzling golden ball the size of a fist.
With the instincts of wild beasts, the fire wolves sensed that this golden ball of light exuded a dangerous aura, and they involuntarily moved back.
However, the next moment, the dazzling golden ball of light shook slightly in mid-air, and then disappeared.
The fire wolves fell one by one. The positions they stood in appeared a golden red trail.
When Lynn opened her eyes again, it was already pitch black around her.
There was no longer the emerald green above her head, but the sky full of stars and a bright moon.
"It's so beautiful..."
She muttered to herself involuntarily.
"Elder Brother, Elder Sister Lynn is awake!"
Loulou's excited voice came from Lynn's side. She only noticed at this time that Aker was walking on a country road with her on his back.
"We have left the forest. We didn't expect that the valley is the way to exit the forest. We will be in Pfalz soon, do you want to rest here?"
In this posture, Aker could not turn his head, so he could only continue to look at the front and smile at Lynn. With this look, it was hard to tell that he was still hovering between life and death earlier.
Has the wound on his back healed? Since she could lean on his back like this now, it should be fine, right?
In just a few hours, such a serious injury could be completely healed. Lynn looked at Loulou who quietly walked beside Aker.
All she could think of was the girl who had been under protection had done something to Aker.
This time, hearing the gentle tone, Lynn didn't ridicule him anymore but was silent for a while.
"What's the matter? I have to make it clear first. I'm not saying that you are heavy. I just don’t know if you need to rest here. Even if we keep walking, it will be dawn when we get to Pfalz."
Aker was worried that Lynn would misunderstand it, and then he would experience the sensation of dying again.
"I, I wasn't thinking that! Just keep walking, it's very dangerous to spend the night outside, right, Loulou? Ahhhhh!"
Lynn accidentally loosened Aker's neck while waving her hands wildly to cover up what she was really thinking, almost falling from Aker's back.
"Stop moving! Hey, you are strangling my neck! Let go of it, I will die! "
"Ahaha... Elder Sister Ling may not have been carried like this before."
"Aker, let me down, I can already walk by myself..."
"I can still walk. If Elder Sister Loulou doesn't want to sleep now, then let's keep moving." Loulou walked slowly beside Aker, the familiar tone was soft as usual, "Besides, I want to see the night sky as well. I haven't seen it for a few days now."
Aker didn't realize Loulou's true feelings at the moment. What did it mean to her to have Lynn joining them in the journey?
The three of them walked slowly along the country road under the gentle moonlight, only the sound of insects accompanied their footsteps one after another.
.
The town of Pfalz, located at the foot of the Waren Mountains on the southern border of the empire, was a very ordinary country town.
On the main street that ran through the whole town, various shops and temporary stalls were open on both sides of the street. From the moment the sun rose, the merchants were ready to compete for customers. Customers went to various stalls to find the food or daily necessities they needed to buy that day and then bargained with the traders.
Selling and bargaining appeared one after another. Under the blue sky, everything seemed so peaceful.
The three people hadn't seen a place with humans for many days, and such a peaceful town was the spiritual harbor they needed most at the moment.
"Stop looking. We need to hurry up and find a hotel to rest!"
"Yes, Elder Brother, I want to rest too..."
In the early morning, the three smoothly walked all the way from the vast forest at the foot of the Waren Mountains to the town of Pfalz.
Just stepping into the market in the small town, Aker was immediately attracted by the lively atmosphere in front of him. As if the fatigue of a long journey for a whole week was washed away by the bustle, he forgot that the first task in coming here should be to find the hotel so the two girls could rest.
Now, he was dragging the two listless girls to look around in the downtown area.
"You can't always wear this dress, right? They are all tattered, so I have to buy a new one."
He retorted so. But since entering here, Aker has never been to a store that specializes in selling clothes, but has paid more attention to blacksmith shops and roadside stalls selling magical tools.
"Are boys all this energetic..." Lynn twisted Aker's arm lightly, "Then you should hurry up and find a clothing store to buy it, so we can find a place to rest!"
"Ouch... It's more convenient to buy everything before finding a hotel, right? Besides, we can only live in the cheapest hotel that provides nothing else but a bed to sleep. Do you think it is the kind of luxury hotel where hot water is supplied 24 hours a day and all meals are delivered to the room by the servants?"
Aker told the cruel facts without concealing them.
"Why would you rather buy a bunch of sundries here than spend more money to live in a normal hotel? Did those fire wolves burn your head out?"
Lynn looked at Aker in disbelief. Although she knew that she had no right to instruct Aker to do things, she couldn't help but say a few more words when she heard such a ridiculous decision.
"I told you, my elder brother is an idiot..."
Loulou interrupted in a low voice, she couldn't hide her sleepiness before entering Pfalz, even though she was the first person who said that she didn't want to rest last night.
"Okay, okay, I get it. Now let’s find a ‘normal’ hotel so you can rest, and then I’ll go out and buy clothes for the three of us. If it doesn’t fit, don't blame me."
"Hurry up. I just want to have hot water to wash my whole body, and then have a bed to sleep."
"Me too..."
The two pampered ladies obviously had never considered the issue of money...
Chapter 2 The Southern Border of the Empire - Pfalz
After inquiring, there was only one hotel in this town, and there was no room for them to choose.
The three of them came to a simple beige three-story building, and a blackboard sign with words written in chalk stood before the building.
On the signboard, it reads: A limited-time offer for independent double rooms! It comes with a 24-hour hot water supply, three meals a day, and everything you need. It will completely dispel your fatigue after the long journey!
"It doesn't seem to be bad."
Lynn nodded in satisfaction, and Loulou looked very pleased.
With the limited time offer and the cheap appearance of this hotel, they should still be able to stay for a few days with the money they had. Aker flipped through the pockets of the trench coat...
"...What is my money?"
Aker turned over the left and right pockets of the trench coat, and checked all the pockets of the trousers, but the wallet with their money was completely gone.
"How could this happen... When we came out, Dad gave us a lot of money!"
"Did you drop it in the fire wolf's lair?"
Lynn thought of a possibility. Indeed, at that time, Aker protected Lynn in his arms. Perhaps at that time, the wallet fell out of the pocket of the trench coat.
After that, in order to avoid being surrounded by the next wave of fire wolves, Aker hurriedly left the valley with Loulou and Lynn, who had fainted on his back, before checking whether he had dropped anything.
"What should we do now... We don't know anyone here. If we don't have money, we can't even buy food."
As Loulou, who had been constantly attacked by sleepiness, said, tears came out of her eyes.
At this time, the hotel's door opened. A girl with round-frame glasses poked her head out from the door of the building and looked at Aker and the two girls who were in despair in front of the hotel.
"Are you travelers? I saw you standing here for a long time from the window."
"Ah... I'm sorry, we just came to this town this morning." Aker quickly lowered his head to apologize on behalf of the three, "Are you the owner of this hotel?"
"No, the boss is inside." The girl pushed the slightly wise round-frame glasses up, "I mean, if you don't have money, you can discuss with the boss. Maybe you can live in on credit."
"Eh? How do you know we have no money now?"
Lynn had some doubts.
"Ah, this..." The girl squinted her eyes and chuckled. "Look, didn't you just talk about money all the time? So I was wondering if that's the case... Anyway, I still have something to do. I need to leave first, but I still recommend you to talk to the boss first. After all, after walking so long, you still need to rest. "
After speaking, the girl wearing round-frame glasses left the hotel and headed in the opposite direction from when Aker and the others came.
Aker watched the girl disappear into the crowd in confusion.
"Probably an employee of this hotel. Since she said it is possible to live on credit, let's try it."
"It seems like this is the only way."
So Aker turned and walked into the hotel, and Lynn and Loulou followed in.
The interior decoration of the hotel was as simple as the first impression on the outside. The floors, walls, and ceilings were all made of wood, which gave people a very natural feeling.
The white-bearded old man at the counter noticed someone coming in, and slowly raised his head to look at the three people who entered the hotel.
"Hello, how can I help?"
"Excuse me, we want a room, but we probably dropped our money on the road. Can we have a room first? We can pay after two days."
Aker hesitated, then nervously spoke to the old man with a white beard. Although the girl with round glasses did say so, Aker was still worried that such unreasonable requests would be rejected.
"Let’s see which rooms are left..." However, the old man with a white beard did not kick them out of the hotel because of the unreasonable request. Instead, he flipped over the registration book at hand. "There is only a double room left, and the other rooms are full."
"Thank you... then we want this room."
"How many days?"
"One day. I will try to pay the money owed by tomorrow."
"Mhm. Room six, one day. Okay, I hope you have a comfortable rest. After all, the room is a little bit cramped for three people."
"Three people?!"
The two exhausted ladies who were already drowsy exclaimed in unison.
It seemed that the words that the white-bearded old man had just blurted out stimulated them, and now they all seemed to be more energetic than Aker.
