It's interesting that this author isn't steering clear of the cold hard truth. A lot of people would scream about this chapter since they're brought up to be oversensitive snowflakes and to really frown upon some things, not sure if I should call it brainwashing but at the very least it's selective upbringing/education. The simple fact that it's actually not unusual nor abnormal for people to be attracted to children and especially teenagers, that it's actually in line with basic biological desire and logic. After all, it's not at all unusual for a girl to get her first period at the age of 8-9, although 10-16 is considered the most normal. At that point, they can get pregnant so just like with any animal out there, it's only obvious that they would attract the attention of the opposite gender once they can procreate. Why would humans be the only animal out there that is magically exclusive? So, obviously back in time when the governmental structure and technology was different, of course it wouldn't be seen as weird for even someone at just the age of 10 to marry, coupled with shorter lifespans and health issues, it was even encouraged in some places. It's all a matter of education and circumstances, but it's an unarguable fact that us modern people are the weird ones from a biological and nature standpoint. Nowadays it's a moral issue and I couldn't agree more with the 16-18 year border being necessary. We have way longer life expectancies, people have the time and wellbeing to care more about their offspring, cradling them for a longer time, and we have obligatory education in place for everyone where we want to raise functional adults in a systematic manner, adults interfering would ruin that to some extent. Thus it's very natural we need and should protect them from this stuff until they get older, because it makes sense from how our society works. In a way, it's kind of tragic for all the so-called "pëdos" out there. So vilified and often despised/hated for something they can't control and that is actually perfectly normal biologically speaking, being seen as abnormal freaks. Hated for a crime they haven't even committed, for the mere possibility that they would be the 0.001% or something that actually harms a child, by that logic we should hate everyone because they're a potential rapist as well. We should also hate everyone playing violent video games because they're a potential murderer. Really laughable. As a society we would do better if we only hated those who actually commit a crime. Still, most authors tend to walk around this issue and pretend that people cared at all about age in the past when they obviously didn't. So many humans want to tell themselves that it's normal to not be interested in children/teens and abnormal to be, creating their own little illusion. It's for the greater good, but I wish everyone wouldn't be such sheep. To realize that it's a moral thing, not something natural, that we created it out of necessity. The world would be a better place then, we would still have laws protecting those below 18 but there wouldn't be such hatred going around and people wouldn't be so touchy about the subject so that art and writing suffers unnecessarily from what is essentially unnecessary censoring of a mere fetish. I respect this author for showing the truth without fear. Man, this ended up a rant, haha. Guess I'm just bored. Perhaps I wouldn't even think about it if I didn't grow up watching japanese anime. Lolis are actually legal here as long as it's clear it's a drawing and not too lifelike and it has always been annoying that people care about it. I guess that's where people draw(pun intended) the line, while real life children and teens are off limit for obvious and logical reasons in our modern day society, as it should be, people won't accept even mere imagination and drawings being illegal as well, if it comes to that someday we're truly a lost case as a society.
