I heard that in the original script, KB pulled out a PIP droid and plugged that thing into the ship as an additional power source. Just before providing the surge, she leaned in close and said "I love you, PIP!" Then the writers realized they're good writers and cut that bull crap out of there!

Captain Rennod is going to be the first “supervisor” and they obscured his image in the hologram cause he’s the statue we see on At Attin and the broken statue on the other At planet we went to already. The “supervisor” role now is either going to be an average joe like “the wizard of oz” or a droid left in control.
