This dude really loves looking and a pile of poop and saying it's chocolate.

…”Veyra said, he expression tightening” - likely heR. Fun opening!! Now I want to go back and read all the previous chapters about the council! Our reading crew also wonders about Ashlock’s new general, and what benefits Ashlock is enjoying from his brand new “spy network”, (of tree children, assuming Mother Tree somehow fosters the root connection, and of course she does!) and what of Stella’s teaching style being discovered by Elaine, who adores her students! One joy at a time, we cant wait to read! And thank you for this chapter (and not taking a long break!! We know you need them but we like our happy reading schedule!)

Alexey Gladkich

Ash was holding off just a single branch of the Beasttide and he has tons of Qi regeneration. As was clearly shown in the chapter, getting an NS cultivator join a potentially fatal experiment is extremely pricy even for them. So they have only a relatively few of those. Also, it apparently pretty much required golden sap for cultivating past early NS levels.

If the celestial empire has billions of mortals, they presumably have millions of cultivators. There are at least half a dozen monarch realm elites and enough nascent soul cultivators to hire them as nameless guards and to use them for potentially lethal experimentation. If Ash and his sect was able to hold off the beast wave for weeks, it makes it harder to believe that the empire is in any real threat (unless we see necromancer beasts, spawners, or other monsters that will rapidly grow out of control).

Alexey Gladkich

There are 9 realms and the Heavens. Currently, they are at the bottom realm. The eyes or whatever came directly from the Heavens or some God from the first realm. Nothing else would be dangerous to Senior Lee.

I wonder how the transition to the next phase will happen. We have always had multiple objectives or things to worry about. We know this isn’t the end though because once the celestial realm is conquered even though this is the current world tree there are still the higher realms of the “gods” or the golden eyes and where ever senior lee is from. Since it doesn’t seem like he’s in the celestial realm. It’s just a new feeling to seem like we might be close to an end because we no longer have multiple forces that we have been exposed to pressing urgency on the characters.

You can never predict Floridawn man

TFTC!! Its awesome that Ash's root network has made it that far already.

Basically God

Little does the chairman know; he is playing right into their hands. Thanks for the chapter~♥

Draxas

This is an amazing start to the end of the beginning

We have the Azure Emblem family that is supposed to feed Nyxelia, we need to involve Kyle in this. The Void family is almost wiped out. We need to conquer the Cosmic Starshaker family and the Earth family. The rest of the Lightning family has been enslaved. And the Blood family has been wiped out. Did I miss anyone?

Philipp Battenberg

Who? I don't remember how aware of the Ashfallen Sec the Chairman or the Council are. The interest was mainly Stella, and even then it mostly irked the Chairman that it's seen as his failure that she and her brother escaped. Her presence has vanished, so she is presumably dead, so the Ashfallen Sect is of no immediate concern. Especially, if it's assumed that they were overrun by the Beast Tide. Why bother checking? So, they might only ask such questions once Ashfallen attacks openly. (I'm still hoping for Ashlock turning Red Vine Peak into a bastion, riding into battle.)

Philipp Battenberg

It's not exactly the inner strive Ashlock and the World Tree aimed for, but it will do. Maybe even better. Though the Chairman's perspective is _somewhat_ understandable. Without the Age of Ascension (?), he cannot really cultivate, and the World Tree doesn't seem to grow closer to usher the new age; it's really rather discouraged to do so at the moment, being enslaved and all. So, the only ambition left for the Chairman is to rule over the 9th layer (or at least the part he perceives worthwhile). He's still a power hungry asshole (most cultivators are?), but there are reasons for his actions. If he knew that Ashlock just needed to be fed a few Monarch Realm cultivators to start the Age of Ascension, then he would probably eagerly feed his fellows to the All-Seeing Eye. (Unless he _wants_ to be the big fish in the small pond.)

PMonk

Nice chapter. The Chairman actions are very on point with his personality, and gives us a good framework of how he wants to move forward. It would actually work if it was the World Tree making the sap. He will be accelerating Ash plans.

Someone

Ashlock needs to start spending Chi on his cult like he did when he was in the Star Core at level 9, give his children a fleet and raise their cultivation level, and also give his cult a lot of fruits. I can't wait for the third general, Ashlock needs to upgrade his flower and mushroom abilities

Philipp Battenberg

He probably will, but, as mentioned, he needs to time his strike for maximum impact. As these are typical cultivator assholes, they upper escholon of the various (sub-)factions will restrict the supply of sap to themselves, when it is reduced. This will guarantee that the cursed sap will hit the leaders and powerhouses when introduced, removing the risk that some "grunt" triggers it first.

Philipp Battenberg

The question is, if they have disposed of the people turned spirit tree or kept them around for further studying (or just didn't bother). If the trees are still there, Ashlock has a direct root (pun fully intended) into the celestial empire. And as Floridawn is Nature-aligned... Could they potentially join Ashlock to free the World Tree? Especially, when the rest of the Celestial Empire more or less says "Sucks to be you" as the Beast Tide arrives. And ninth book... We came a long way. I joined at the end of the second one/beginning of the third.

Erik Tóth

Thanks for the chapter!

I wonder if the chairmen will find out that the beast tide avoided the ashfallen sect and ask them how?

BlackRazaras

Plateworm

I wonder if the chairman will try to feed the Cursed Sap to some of his enemies unknowingly strengthening Ashlock
