Starlit

I am a big fan of the chill, lore filled, character enhancing chapters. It adds depth. And I can understand why the fights would get a bit more fanfare, stereotypes exist for a reason. I honestly didn't even realize there was a like button until I went looking for it. lol I will try to remember to like more often.

Oscar Widegren

Thank you for the chapter. I like the chill once.

William

I swear I will hate it so much if the mud cloaks EVER betray ashlock intentionally. They are just sooo PERFECT as little eldritch horrors that can defy all logic but are totally chill with just admiring and following a DIFFERENT eldritch horror. Also, if he sent them all, or most of them into the eternal realm, and they just cultivated and reproduced for a while, how much could they raise their population? Like all they need to reproduce is enough qi to evenly split into 2, so how many mudcloaks could 1 NASCENT SOUL REALM mudcloak turn into? In fact that might need to be a priority to find out at some point soon. Also, what if he sent in one high level mudcloak at the 30x , and it cultivated for a while, before reproducing? Does the number of people counted as in the eternal realm increase? Personally I dont really think it should, because the mudcloaks are basically some kind of hivemind, right? If so then it should be possible for them to just have groups going in and scavenging for materials from pocket realms to bring back. Speaking of which, I think there's an obviously very lucrative market to be found here where some "princess from the 1st layer" goes around "playing merchant" across the 9 layers, and getting ludicrously rich in this time before the era of ascension, where most powerful and rich families and sects on each layer are totally cut off from certain resources they have the knowledge to use. So much potential for supremely ridiculous profits here.

I think part of the reason the comments are lower in chapters like this is because it's less high stakes events. There's less pressing/mind boggling events happening here, therefore less discussion and more silent enjoyment? I thoroughly enjoy world building chapters. Seeing things from other perspectives is always nice as well.

Jonathan Nutter

Starting to doubt if the crown on Douglas’s head actually does anything at all or if the mudcloaks are just playing subservient…

DeadHydromancer

Tyftc!

PMonk

Not at all this type of chap are great and what have made this a solid novel. The world building is not to extensive but is there and you have done a great job in developing it. 👍🏼

Bernat Saenz

I love the quieter episodes where seemingly nothing happens, they usually give more context to the world and it's inhabitants.

IdolTrust

I think the mudcloaks are an hidden boss or some kind of eldritch origin creature.

the duck guy

Love the chill chapters between the big stuff

Kyle arsenault

Balance is key. Good chapter

Justice League

This family adores chapters where the mudcloaks appear! It is nice to see Ash get some sleep and healing after all the battles leading up to the diversion of the beast tide. I’m happy not getting too early a glance at Elaine and Douglas, but I really want Stella, Bob and Ash to find out what the Mudcloaks are up to, especially with Elder Vortextian’s prize. We have been wondering!!!

Excess

Aren’t those two needs solved at different realms? Soulfire cultivators couldn’t fly at all.

Matthew

I definitely enjoy these chapters, it's what makes it feel like they do exist in a world with time, sometimes things need to get done

Remel Marcelle

When Douglas dies and the Mud cloaks go nuts. I don't know if the team are gonna have what it takes to deal with them.

Alexey Gladkich

"Back then, they still had to eat food and couldn't even fly without the help of a sword." Diana never needed a sword to fly...

welp

Personally I like the breaks, I don't comment much in general, mostly just toss a heart. But yeah I love these moments and they allow you to show dynamics and growth of the characters themselves rather than simply what they're capable of.

Basically God

I like when things go well. Thanks for the chapter~♥

Tryptic

Actually, as I think about it, Ashlock has been pretty neglected. He was originally the main character, but he's gradually stopped being it. He used to reach his roots downward and find interesting pockets in the earth, grow new fruits that got eaten by interesting birds, gain new skills that did things. When is his inner world going to start spawning animal life? When is a random phoenix going to make a nest in his branches? Ashlock can see everything that happens in the entire sect, so he could be the POV for any scene that takes place there, even if it's focused on other characters. The last really cool thing Ashlock has done...was play chess, and that was a fantastic scene. Shoot, how about a scene where a monster from the beast tide decides to stop marching and stay behind in one of the tree groves, developing a relationship with one of the trees?

Tryptic

I think the chapters are good, but they need to be very carefully paced; ironically, they probably need more careful pacing than the action chapters. Personally I felt Morrigan's assassin organization idea went on too long: it doesn't add anything interesting because the story is full of organizations that serve Ashlock. It could have lasted a few sentences. Diana's worry about falling behind was much better: short and effective. Stella's traveling posture, and people not trusting her to teach, are also good; we're getting incremental insights into how they're growing and changing. I'm concerned the process of making a body for Morrigan will be too long. Or maybe I just find it less interesting than some of the other threads you could advance. We could get a POV section of someone in Tartarus (maybe Amber?), or Ashlock's roots reaching a strange-looking new city and him scouting it from above. We could get a conversation between two Primal Overlords. The slice of cultivator life is great for the feel of a book like this, but Stella herself is not a very interesting character. She's getting better over time, but she's still more interesting during action chapters.

Ethan B.

TFTC!! Proably more interesting than frog dissections to be fair.

Neon Phantom

It's nice to have chill chaps like this to see how everyone is when it's not all hands on deck.

Peter Cigáň

Personally I love these chapters. The actions are less because if there is less action we just kick our feet up an enjoy. No need for keyboard warrior’s stuff.

Scout

Slower chapters tend to add breathing room when converted into a book, though frankly its not really about slow or fast its about the execution. For my money you've done a good job so far.

Draxas

For me, I find that if everything is just fast. Paced action or fights, then it lessens the enjoyability of it, so basically yes I do enjoy these chill chaps

Sam

I love these chill chapters. Sometimes back to back huge events seem too much in stories. I love it when they take a moment to calm down for a breather

Xander Schmidt

For the authors note, chapters like these bring the novel to life, in my opinion

Temporay Neveruse

I prefer the chill chapters since there is only so much visual flair and acrobatics you can write about before it gets repetitive. Than agian I'm a feind that reads a lot of books so sometimes it's a me thing since every one more or less say the same thing.

Quentin Cozzi

Thanks for the chapter!

Derek Duhon

In the moment we may not like the breaks in the action these sorts of chapters represent, but it would be exhausting to only do otherwise and we'd never get any development outside the main plot.

Erik Tóth

Thank you for the chapters! A few chill chapter should be nice. The books were always balanced so i'm not worried the others would mind them :)

Road Rash

If every character was action i would have dropped the story

Sargon Yami

Or that the primal overlords are allowed into the eternal realm (with conditions). I will not give up on the monarch death hydra

Tyler Pavoni

Love chill chapters. Just want MOAR

Nic Peacock

I would say chill chapter give room for the character development and world building that give the action characters their weight – if it was all action it would just be a “coco melon” series and that would be far less interesting

Z-Ouji

I like chill chapters just the same as the action packed ones. Tftc

Cateno

A few lighter chapters are something nice, but please finally tell us what the conditions for reaching the Monarch Realm are 😂 But overall, the pacing is very pleasant, thank you so much for your work ❤️

Flynt

Thank you for the chapter

ClemencorUwU

Thanks for the chapter!! May the All-seeing Eye have pity on those students minds after her teaching program. Probably about three years of knowledge crammed into one day of lectures with no break for lunch

Plateworm

Tftc

RedFaux

I wonder what the Mudcloak entity is the Origin of. Recursion? Technology? Mind? Civilisation?

VolfKami

I like them all, I just don't feel the need to comment on everything

Leonard Dambeck

I like the show chapters

daniel singleton

BlackRazaras
