Patch Notes Chapters 503 + 504
🕑 Added 2025-08-28 07:47:33 +0000 UTCAlright, the last two chapters didn't quite hit the mark as I wanted them to, so I've made some extensive edits to both chapters. The number of changed lines is too many to put here, so I advise a reread of both chapters 503 and 504. I still don't think they are the best chapters ever, but I believe the changes have made them more enjoyable, and the characters act more rationally. I will be boarding my 13 hr flight to Atlanta now so I will have to fix any errors or issues with the rewrites when I land.
However if you can't be bothered, here are a high level list of changes:
Added a lot more context and build up in chapter 503. Morrigan is now presented with the option to cultivate a second affinity and explains why she can't.
Ashlock provides contex as to why Morrigan can't take over Khaos.
Stella no longer pleaded with Morrigan
Morrigan still gets sent to the Eternal Grove but the build up is changed.
Ashlock's system no longer intervenes.

I mean... it is still qi and worldwalkers are a species not a catchall term. Maple converts eaten qi into void so I figure eating peak star core qi of the highest refinement would be tasty.

I think, overall, this was done right. Yes, people may feel that Morrigan has not earned the ire of Ashfallen, but she is a child-eater nonetheless. Ultimately the only actual reason I can see that she spoke up is to gain better treatment for her future-self once she has eaten the next child. Had there not been so few options for her, she wouldn’t have said anything, I think. And, it actually does make sense that Khaos pulled her out of the void because the void itself isn’t so much a powerful space as a place of no “traction”. Morrigan is actually just a sapient version of the void as Bob is a now a sapient version of the slime. Some creator just gave the void sapience. They didn’t make her powerful, as Ash made Bob powerful. Part of me can’t figure out why Maple ate her, though. I didn’t get that world walkers eat void-things. Kinda cannibalistic? I thought Maple and siblings liked orbiting around the layers and eating spare qi. Over all, good work!
