Drew

You made it weird.

Victor DoUrden

His wood will be the stiffest and hardest of all the heavens and his girth will know no bounds

Alexey Gladkich

With Regards to Star Core generation of Qi - it needs time to flow for that to happens, means the Qi is drawn passively from ambient time Qi.

Nepsilon_Ner

Star Cores producing Qi always conflicted with cultivators from higher layers of reality being weakened in the loser layers. It would still be strange for it to be wrong since it would be easy to test. So it would make most sense if the Qi a Star Core generates is not proportional with cultivation level.

Ethan Barrow

TFTC! That's a strong cliffhanger, am very much hanging here.

I forgot to mention it earlier too but another point: 7) Our entire understanding of how pocket realms work is based on infinite Qi flowing down from heaven. I’d recommend rereading chapter 43 and 44 from book 5 as a refresher as these chapters outright say there’s infinite Qi, and talk about it in length. But anyone can create a pocket realm by creating a ‘seed’ of intent and dao and throwing it into the void. The seed acts as the foundation to create the world and heavens Qi pours down to fill it up over time. Wouldn’t this also deplete the Qi of reality over time? The pocket realms themselves only fill up with Qi with time. And over time more and more pocket realms will be created. Imagine a pool with a fountain in it. The fountain takes water from the pool pours it back into the pool in a loop. The fountain never stops because it’s using the water it spits out. It’s a never ending steam but a finite amount of water. What if I then take some of that stream and divert it to a bucket. Then someone else comes by and does the same thing. Then another and so on. The pool will start to lose more and more water. The levels will lower, and potentially even run out. It should be obvious but the fountain is heaven, the pool is the nine realms, and the buckets are pocket realms. You lose again infinite Qi doubters

BrotherJohn

I feel like I should organize the points most people have made as to why finite Qi doesn’t make any sense whether conceptually or within established lore. 1) We’re told that the heavens have infinite qi. Some say that characters are fallible and could be wrong. But it was Mars who said that. An ancient world walker who has seen multiple cycles. He should know more about that than anyone. 2) We’re told that Qi flows down from heaven, then through the layers of creations all the way down to the lowest layer. It progressively gets thinner as it goes down, and is eventually corrupted by demonic Qi. This only makes sense with infinite Qi. Wouldn’t all Qi eventually be corrupted? We’re told that at the lowest layer the Qi then becomes beyond heavens control. This all made sense with infinite Qi. 3) World walkers eat Qi and if they die in the void that Qi is forever lost. All of reality is in a never ending loop. Even if world walkers were only destroying a small amount of Qi, infinite time is still infinite time. HOW IS THERE STILL ANY QI? The heavens have set up system that is guaranteed 100% to collapse at some point? 3.5) Related to the last point. Void cultivators exist. World walkers devour Qi, so if they die within reality, that Qi is recycled. But void cultivators fight with Void Qi directly. Which annihilates Qi to never be restored. That is another source of Qi loss that guarantees at some point reality just runs out of Qi. 4) We’re told Star Cores produce Qi! Some here have said that Star Cores don’t produce Qi, they simply convert Qi. But that’s never established in the lore! That’s an assumption made outside the story to retcon this new info. A quick search shows no instance of the terms ‘convert Qi’ ever being used when referring to Star Cores. It’s also “Produce Qi”. Seems cut and dry 5) Maybe most confusing of all is the fact that we’re told the heavens LITERALLY CREATED EVERYTHING. How can the thing that created Qi to begin with, not be able to create more Qi? Explain that one atheist 6) Also wouldn’t this mean that each layer has a Qi levels should generally rise and fall all the time? Like if there’s a finite amount of Qi, and over time you get more and more higher and higher level cultivators, then ambient Qi levels should drop. Because more and more of the ambient Qi is being stored inside cultivators. Yet there’s no mention of that in the story. Qi is mysterious in this story. And the only facts we know about it are all directly contradicted in this one chapter. 7 books deep this is a pretty big change. #Changethechapter #infiniteqi

BrotherJohn

The finite Qi part doesn’t really make sense with established lore so far. We’re told in the beginning that “Only the heavens have infinite Qi”. That’s a direct quote! Which made sense to me. If the heavens are the entity that literally created everything, including Qi, then why would there be a limit on making more? Like the heavens made Qi to begin with, so why can’t they create more? Also we’re told that Star Cores generate Qi! Even without cultivating, or being in a place devoid of Qi, the star core will still produce Qi and refill your core. That is a direct contradiction to what’s stated here! I really think this needs to be edited moving forward. It makes no sense for there to be a limit on Qi. ALSO ALSO while world walkers are bared entry into reality, we know for a fact that they do still manage to enter occasionally and go back to the void. We’re also told directly that they still find ways to devour stray Qi in the void! These cycles of reality that each last 10’s of thousands of years, if not 100’s, have been going on since forever! Even if world walkers were eating small amounts of Qi, they would still eventually devour everything. Since, again, apparently there’s no way to create Qi as it’s finite! Please rework this chapter!

Xobody18 (Daniel)

Give Ashlock domain expansion. Turn him into Gojo to lol

Xobody18 (Daniel)

great chapter, I wonder how many credits he has...prob like a bazillion XD

I never undetstood people that want immortality. Your present is finite you have only a finite amount of good in the moment, jet your past and loss is evergrowing until the lights you have in your life are all swallowed by darkness. Sounds like hell to me

Brian Block

No, there should at least 13, if the one level per layer of reality holds up for the next 8 layers up. Qi Formation/Body (might have name wrong), Soul Fire, Star Core, Nascent Soul, Monarch(Top of Layer 9, 5 stages total in this layer), Sovereign of Realities(Layer 8), and the one cultivation stage for each Layer 7 through Layer 1.

Moon Winchester

I’m gonna be genuinely honest since I find this a weird aspect about myself, but I love questioning and pondering about wishes and superpowers and abilities and more. And the most common one that I believe everybody comes across is immortality. In both lifespan and physical being. The ability to live forever and never die Like Mr. immortal from Marvel. But I’ve had this thought process in conversation with myself in many people so many times that years ago, I came to a very simple conclusion. I would love to be immortal in lifespan, but nothing else because I want the guaranteed ability to die. I fear eternity. There’s a very good manga that I don’t remember the name of it but it’s about two beings who are completely 100% immortal. who have lived so long that the world has ended many times and they’ve lost a lot of their memories of who they were. And in their loneliness and despair throughout the process of this manga, we see them slowly meet each other and their journey. The reason why I say this is weird is because as a mortal it’s odd that one of my fears is eternity. But I can understand what the being meant on a deeper sense. I don’t want to be eternal, I don’t wish being eternal on anyone else because in my opinion, it is the greatest torture of all time. I could be reading too much into it, but I just wanted to put that out there I also use text to speech to write this so if there’s any errors I’m sorry, but I have to do school homework so I didn’t have time to text this or write it. It was just a thought that came to me.

Ivorywinter

Tyftc! Since some trees are becoming sentient (ex. Mytherion, the blightbane family) maybe they could help with managing some parts of the domain now. But yeah Ash needs to learn to be omniscient or be able to split his focus he gets super caught up in his musings too much.

Sargon Yami

as far as i understood it so far. the heaven have infinite qi but not infinite reach and the qi gets corrupted the further away (layers of realms) it is from the heaven until they lose that Qi. the flow of qi was not a closed system. the qi being finite does not work with how the flow of qi was discribed in earlier earlier. maybe the amount of qi in the controled area is finite but heavens reality is not a finite system. the world walkers also constantly eat the qi of reality that flows down from heavens and as far as we know they are not trying to invade reality so it would be a constant loss of qi. star cores are also discribed as generating qi not converting it. (two reasons i see that as a problem, first ashlock is techniqaly weakening himself by creating offspring longterm, second i hoped ash would boast the 9th layer with his many ofspring but that does not work anymore). Maybe souls itself being hard to create or finite. i know i wrote this in another post but i thought writing my thoughts out more is better.

Gonvas

I thought it was already confirmed xD

Gonvas

It weakens the Heavens xD A continuous source of worship and credits, while weakening his greatest enemy.

Draxas

So across all 9 layers there's only 7 or 8 (can't remember) cultivation stages

Liam

Thank you for the amazing chapter. I wonder what new skill Ashlock will get and what are the benefits of getting The Eternal Grove of Rebirth other than being worship.

Quinn

Gotta spend the time with loved ones when you can. 3 chapters a week is more than enough when they’re this good. Keep it up boss man!

Phoenixdrop

Okay this will be something also it looks like this reality is stuck dealing with the concept of entropy just like ours now the question remains has anyone ever comprehended the dao of entropy because ash is in a dame good spot to do it

Someone

They don't produce. They pessimistically convert a qi to the user's qi. Those below star level must actively convert it.

Spider-Mannix

For the love of Ash, please give him a skill that allows him to split his attention on different things. It's a glaring weakness of his, especially with how expansive his domain is now.

lilcapt

Nice

Sargon Yami

The qi is finite and can't be created or destroyed? Doesn't this contradict earlier chapters? And starting from the starcore cultivators produce qi

Quentin Cozzi

Thanks for the chapter!

Blake Ryan Johnson

Also great to finally have some insight about the upper layers, knowing each one only has one realm of power in play puts some things into perspective

Blake Ryan Johnson

Thank you for the chapter!

Wanderer of Worlds

Thank you for the chapter!
