Warm Up Sketch 2023-10-17 "Donna Quixote"
Horses are hard yo. Even with references. About 25 minutes on this piece, at least half of that was figuring out the dang horse.Listen close and I'll tell you the tale of an aging Spanish matron who pines for old days of adventure and chivalry that maybe were never quite true. So she dons an old aluminum chainmail bikini and saddles her trusty sway back mare and sets off to find that long lost fictional glory...

A smidge over 15 minutes of draw time. I think the water effect worked out pretty dang well, honestly.

I let today's warmup sketch go a little longer. About 25minutes or so, but I really like the atmosphere that I pulled together. Sexy. Spooky. Good times.

Warm Up Sketch 2023-10-11 "Space Phoenix"
A smidge over 15min here. Much like the diver girl, the impulse to keep refining and refining is strong. But the point of warm ups is to, ya know, warm up. Shake loose the muscles and get the hand and arm used to doing the movements of drawing again. This one might have benefited from me doing a quick underlay sketch. But it's still neat.

So, this wound up being two 15 min sketches because I was only so-so pleased with the first one (the full figure drawing). I wanted more... black on black or something. Anyway. Still kinda neat.

A little melancholic, this one. Took me 20-25 minutes. I could definitely push this one further. Mostly happy with the anatomy, though there are parts that definitely need adjustment still. People sitting is shockingly hard to draw.

About 20min on this one. I could keep refining it, of course, but that kind of defeats the point of a warmup. Still. Kinda neat. To do this one right, I really should have just dove into the colors and painted the girl in silhouette instead of sketching her out first. Would have saved time.
