Chapter 93: Soul Master Tournament
🕑 Added 2024-12-05 17:36:12 +0000 UTCSince the incident with Ning Rongrong, Yang Podi and Ye Lingling no longer hid their relationship, instead choosing to announce it publicly, shocking many people.
After that incident, the bond between Yang Podi and Ye Lingling grew stronger. The two were often seen holding hands while strolling around the school, and even going shopping together during their free time, making others envious.
One person particularly affected was Dugu Yan. Since the relationship became official, Ye Lingling spent much less time with her, giving off the impression that her close friend had been "stolen."
Time flew by quickly, and in the blink of an eye, eight months passed.
During this time, Yang Podi devoted himself to cultivating. Perhaps due to the effects of the Strange Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, his soul power increased by three levels. At the age of 14, Yang Podi had already reached Rank 48 and had been at Heaven Dou Imperial Academy for over two years.
As for the rest of Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's second team, they had also made significant progress.
Among them, Dugu Yan had the highest soul power at Rank 36, followed by Yang Ping'an at Rank 35 and Ye Lingling at Rank 32.
Niu Meng reached Rank 29, while Tai Long and Bai Xiaofei were both at Rank 28. At their current pace, it was expected that these three would reach the Soul Elder realm in about half a year.
Meanwhile, within the Breaking Clan, things seemed to have grown increasingly low-profile. Yang Wudi, his grandfather, and Yang Wushuang, his granduncle, were both in closed-door cultivation, rarely seeing anyone. Yang Podi's father also focused mostly on cultivation.
The most significant news, however, was that Yang Podi's maternal grandfather, Niu Gao, finally broke through to become a Title Douluo. With the assistance of the other three leaders of the Four Single Attribute Clans, he obtained an excellent soul ring, achieving Rank 91 and shocking the surrounding factions.
Now, the Heaven Dou Empire could count Niu Gao as its fifth Title Douluo, alongside Sword Douluo, Bone Douluo, Poison Douluo, and Thunder Douluo. This breakthrough not only allowed Niu Gao to stand tall but also enabled him to surpass Hu Yanzhen, the sect leader of the Elephant Armored Sect, becoming the number one defensive-type soul master in the entire continent.
Having a Title Douluo in the Four Single Attribute Clans was a source of great pride, and no one dared underestimate their power anymore.
The grand event of the continent—the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Tournament—was also about to begin.
However, Yang Podi decided not to lead his team in participating this year. With their current soul power levels, they were not yet strong enough. Instead of competing, he believed it would be more beneficial for them to continue training.
Nonetheless, Yang Podi gave his team a break, allowing everyone to watch the tournament. This would help them familiarize themselves with the competition rules and understand the significance of the event.
Another reason was that the team's nerves had been tightly strung from long-term training. Allowing them some time to relax would improve their efficiency in future cultivation.
When the Soul Master Tournament began, the entire team attended the event as spectators. The venue was packed, resembling a sea of people. Watching the battles on the stage filled everyone with admiration. After all, what soul master wouldn't want to be in the spotlight or renowned throughout the continent?
Every tournament seemed to produce countless star players, as well as numerous geniuses displaying exceptional strength.
During the tournament, Yang Podi recognized a few familiar faces, including Feng Xiaotian from the Wind School, Huo Wushuang from Blazing Academy, Hu Yanli from the Elephant Armored Sect, and Yu Tianxin from Thunder Academy. These individuals were already emerging as leaders of their respective teams, most of them having reached the Soul Elder rank.
Unfortunately, the two most dazzling beauties of the next tournament, Huo Wu and Shui Bing'er, were absent. Based on their ages, they were likely only twelve or thirteen at this point, which was a bit of a disappointment.
As they watched the matches, the seven team members were captivated. The participants showcased a wide variety of soul skills, with the boys exuding charm and the girls radiating youthful vitality. It was impossible not to be envious.
The crowd was particularly thrilled whenever Team Tianshui, consisting of an all-female lineup, performed. Their matches were accompanied by dances, solidifying their status as the most popular team in the Heaven Dou region.
After a month of matches, the top five teams in the Heaven Dou regional qualifiers emerged: Tianshui Academy, Thunder Academy, Divine Wind Academy, Blazing Academy, and Elephant Armored Sect.
The Five Elemental Academies lived up to their reputation as established institutions, securing all five top spots. As for Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's second team, they remained a background presence, ranking far lower.
Yang Podi addressed his team:
"I gave you this month-long break primarily to help you relax and to give you a chance to observe the tournament. You've now seen the general strength levels of participating teams. Typically, an average team has one Soul Elder, while the top five teams usually have two or three Soul Elders."
"Don't think that's impressive. Heaven Dou's teams are considered weak on the continental stage and have never won a championship. The Star Luo Imperial Team and the Spirit Hall Team are the strongest competitors, usually fielding full teams of Soul Elders, and sometimes even Soul Kings."
"For the next tournament, my goal is to win the championship. I want all of you to recognize the gap and work hard to close it. At your current pace, I expect each of you to reach at least Rank 43 to 45 before the next competition. Anything less would waste the training I've given you."
During the elimination rounds, Yang Podi used Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's connections to get his team access to watch the matches in person. Although these rounds were less exciting, they provided a more detailed look at individual soul masters' techniques and combat skills.
Meanwhile, Yang Podi and Ye Lingling's relationship continued to blossom. They were often seen holding hands while shopping together. In private, they were even more affectionate, often embracing.
With over ten million gold soul coins at his disposal, Yang Podi indulged in buying things for himself and Ye Lingling without hesitation. After each day's tournament matches, they often visited auction houses, looking for valuable finds.
Among Yang Podi's purchases were two soul tools. One was a storage-type tool capable of holding living creatures, with a 30-cubic-meter capacity. The other was a large storage tool with a 100-cubic-meter capacity, though it could not hold living creatures. These two items alone cost him over one million gold soul coins, but they proved to be incredibly useful.
