Chapter 107: The Model Dressing Room
🕑 Added 2024-10-03 17:23:47 +0000 UTC"Can we go down?"
In the Georgia Dome, the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills were locked in a fierce battle. Scarlett Johansson, sitting in the VIP box, clearly had little interest in the game and kept reminding Duke, "The godmother said I could go down to the field during halftime. I want to see the supermodels. Can you take me down, Duke?"
"Dear, it's not too late to go down when the first half is almost over," Duke replied, still somewhat interested in the game.
"Come on, let's go!" The little girl stood up decisively. "I want to see the supermodels."
"A bunch of women, what's there to see?"
Saying this, Duke stood up and led Scarlett into the adjacent VIP passage. He took out the two badges his mother had given him in advance, hanging one around his neck and one around Scarlett's. After being checked by security, they walked through the long corridor toward the dressing room assigned to Victoria's Secret.
"Don't tell me you don't like watching!" Scarlett tugged at Duke's sleeve, her mouth never stopping. "That's Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer! In terms of figure and face, they're way better than that stick figure, Naomi Watts. I really don't understand, Duke, why you'd be interested in a woman like Naomi Watts."
"Hey, darling." Duke gently flicked her forehead. "That's not something you should be concerned about."
"But you're my brother! I have to care about your love life!" Scarlett protested, covering her forehead with one hand, indignant. "Women like Naomi Watts are totally not suited to be your girlfriend."
"She's not my girlfriend." Duke flicked her forehead again. Scarlett covered it even tighter, asking in confusion, "Why not? I clearly saw her spending the night in your trailer…"
"Scarlett!" Duke turned to look at her.
"Ah… I just happened to see it." She quickly stuck out her tongue, curiously asking, "So if you're not dating, what's your relationship?"
She scratched her face, seemingly puzzled.
"Why don't you like Naomi?" Duke quickly changed the subject. "Just because she threw your ice cream?"
"I only let you or me throw things I give to you," the little girl insisted, full of logic. "If someone else throws my things, they're my enemy!"
Walking through the quiet corridor and turning a corner, they entered a spacious passage, where the number of people suddenly increased, most of whom were women. When they reached the door of a dressing room, Duke finally spotted someone he knew.
"Hi, Martha." This was one of his mother's assistants.
"Hello…" Scarlett followed Duke's lead, waving at Martha with the cutest smile. "Can we go in?"
"Of course."
With Martha leading the way, the two walked into the dressing room.
It was a very spacious dressing room, and even with nearly a hundred people inside, it didn't feel crowded at all. The most eye-catching were the tall and sexy female models, who, with the assistance of their assistants and stylists, were completely unfazed by the many men present as they changed clothes in front of them.
"Godmother is over there."
Even though all the bodies were female, the almost ten-year-old Scarlett still seemed a bit shy. She stuck out her tongue a few times, tightly holding Duke's hand as they walked toward where Mrs. Leah was.
"Godmother…"
"Mom…"
They approached and greeted her in turn.
"Martha, take them over there."
Mrs. Leah pointed to a row of chairs and instructed, "Scarlett, no mischief."
"Oh…" The little girl nodded. "I'll listen to Duke."
Clearly busy with work, their mother continued, and Duke led Scarlett to sit next to an empty chair.
"Look, Duke."
Though they couldn't run around and disturb others' work, Scarlett wasn't being still in her seat. She pointed at a woman changing into sexy lingerie and said, "That's Naomi Campbell! Her figure is amazing! If I could have a body like that when I grow up, that would be great!"
The famous black model had just finished her makeup and was taking off her clothes to change into her runway lingerie. Her figure was indeed impressive, unlike the usual thin models.
"Is this how models change clothes?"
Watching the models undress and put on the prepared runway lingerie, Scarlett blinked and asked, "There are so many men here."
"Most of the time, it's like this."
Typically, fashion shows are held in tents or exhibition centers, where there are no separate changing rooms, and many of the fashion designers and their assistants are men. Publicly changing clothes is a basic skill for models; if they can't even do this, they shouldn't be models.
It's not an exaggeration to say that the bodies of those famous female models have been seen by countless men.
"I will definitely never be a model!"
Hearing Duke's words, Scarlett shook her head vigorously, not at all open-minded like an adult. "Having so many men staring at you would definitely be heartbreaking."
"Darling."
In a rare playful mood, Duke intentionally teased her, "Many actresses have nude scenes too. What if a director asks you to act when you grow up?"
"Duke, I'm not even an adult yet!" She turned her head, pouting at Duke. "How can you say that to a child?"
"It was just a metaphor." Duke realized he had overlooked Scarlett's age and quickly apologized.
"Then I'll only work with directors I like. Those I don't like can go to the side." She stretched out a small hand, tightly gripping Duke's arm. "I'll only work with you in the future, okay? You won't force…"
Her eyes shifted. "You won't force your sister to shoot scenes she doesn't like, right?"
Gently flicking her forehead, Duke said nothing. Scarlett Johansson was still somewhat naïve; she simply found acting fun. If she ever tasted fame and fortune, those thoughts might just fade away.
"Duke, look at that one, the blonde."
The two were like audience members watching a circus performance, constantly commenting on the female models in the dressing room, especially Scarlett. If Duke hadn't reminded her, her loud voice might have attracted a lot of attention.
She pointed to a tall blonde model and said, "That's her, the one talking to Godmother. She seems even prettier than Claudia Schiffer. You should chase her to be your girlfriend!"
"Do you think these women who have posed nude in magazines are suitable to be my girlfriend?"
As the shoot wrapped up, and with Mrs. Leah acting as a connection, Duke's impression of Scarlett improved significantly. Just like at the party on the terrace, he was now fully engaging in playful banter. "My mother, your beloved godmother, would get mad."
"I'll speak well of you." Scarlett said seriously.
"I think you're more likely to sell me out."
"Hey, when have I ever sold you out? I treat you to ice cream, bring you coffee, help you carry your bag. Go outside and ask if there's a more qualified sister than me."
"But I heard you like to mess with people on set?"
Seeing Duke staring at her, Scarlett crossed her arms, huffing, "Who said that? It must be Naomi Watts! Next time I'll put something in her cup…"
Realizing what she just said, the little girl quickly covered her mouth.
"What did you do, Scarlett?"
"Nothing, I didn't do anything."
Just as Duke was about to ask further, the models in the dressing room finished changing into their lingerie, adjusted their wings, and began to head outside. Scarlett quickly stood up. "They're about to go on stage! Hurry, catch up, Duke!"
At the 1994 Super Bowl, what people remember most is not the fierce showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills for two consecutive years or the Bills' four consecutive trips to the Super Bowl with no wins, but rather the halftime show, where the commercials and performances stole the spotlight from the game itself.
For the first time, Hollywood movies extensively advertised during the Super Bowl, but the most effective was the Warner Bros. film "Independence Day," whose ad, featuring an explosion leveling the White House, was enough to shock audiences, not to mention the scenes of New York and Los Angeles being completely destroyed.
Another hot topic was the lingerie model show during the halftime performance. The tall and sexy models, dressed in the barest of lingerie, stepped onto the Georgia Dome field, with angelic wings attached to their backs. They frequently blew kisses to the camera and interacted with the audience both on-site and in front of their televisions, leaving a lasting impression of the lingerie brand—Victoria's Secret.
After the game, Duke didn't leave the stadium but instead followed the Victoria's Secret team into the press conference. This was a promotional plan collaboratively designed by Warner Bros., Saint Fia Advertising, and Victoria's Secret, with Duke at its center.
Warner wanted to leverage the publicity that might arise from Victoria's Secret's performance, while Victoria's Secret aimed to link its brand with one of Hollywood's hottest commercial directors, generating more topics. Santa Fia, being part of the Rosenberg family business, naturally had every reason to cooperate.
In this era, any brand's rise to fame cannot be separated from essential planning and promotion, whether it's movies or lingerie.
When Claudia Schiffer, the temporary host of the press conference, announced that the initial idea for the show had been proposed by Duke, the Hollywood director, the resulting sensation was predictable. Duke Rosenberg's movies and creative planning became the focal point of the media, making the already almost crazed reporters excited and agitated due to the halftime
"I just put forward an intention." Duke will not forget his family's advertising company, "It was Santa Fia that turned the intention into a successful campaign."
As agreed, Duke praised Victoria's Secret and then turned to his new movie.
