Be careful with the way you name the files ; it's chapter 5, not 4.

You have a good eye. Carlo is probably the most important character in the story, even though he's not a protagonist. I'm sure that throughout this chapter he'll become a much more likable character (in the end), even if he seems despicable at first ;-)

I actually like Carlo, personally. I see a man trapped in a position he’s learned to enjoy as a method of survival, but still mistreated and forced to live with reminders of his innocent youth (the portrait of his younger self in his office - he looked bright-eyed and kind in it). I think his “horn dog” persona is actually largely put on; we see glimpses of his true personality here and there. I could be wrong, obviously, but that’s what I see.
