Bonus 3: How to sell linguistics skills to employers
🕑 Added 2017-05-15 22:33:01 +0000 UTC Whether it's a semester of Linguistics 101, a BA, or a PhD, in our third bonus we share our tips for selling linguistics to future employers. We talk about why linguists have valuable skills that employers love, how to translate linguist-speak into boss-speak, the linguistic and other skills that have made our own careers possible, and cool things that other linguists have gone on to do for work. You'll even get the lowdown on what we both wanted to be when we grew up (spoiler: we didn't know 'linguist' was a thing). This month's bonus episode is in written form rather than audio. We started out as a chat and then went back and edited it and filled in links, so you can enjoy the fun banter part even if you're already employed 🎧💚🎉
When we reach our third Patreon goal of 900 USD we'll be producing full-length audio bonus episodes each month, just for our patrons, on topics you vote for. We initially thought that time might be more than a year away, but in the two months since the Patreon launched we're almost a third of the way there! Thanks everyone!
Until then, we'll be experimenting with different ways of bringing you bonus material, such as this written chat. Feedback welcome, as always! And of course, if you want full episodes as bonus content sooner than later, the best way to do that is to get Lingthusiasm into as many people's ears as possible, so thanks for spreading the word!

Hey Renat, it should be available for anyone to read, but if the link above isn't working for you try this one: docs.google.com/document/d/1XjjAMcv9vECr6USEHCoeqwmQh5CSp2V4V7izRw7WV_0/edit?usp=sharing

This is a text chat bonus, so it's not in the RSS feed because that's only for audio, but it's still there if you click on the link above! In the early stages of doing bonus episodes, we were experimenting with different lengths and formats to try to keep the Patreon workload at a manageable level before it was earning much. We're now very close to the $900 full-bonus-episode goal though, so this is probably going to be our only bonus in text format.

Can I still listen to this or has it been removed for a reason? It doesn't show up in the RSS feed either. Thanks
